I would like to present you with a latest collab between myself (Archaea), and a fellow, talented, producer Temple. 

This track encapsulates my current understanding of the experimental progression of Drum & Bass production, putting an emphasis on the imprint that current out-of-the-box producers will leave during their time.

Drum and bass producer D-Struct from the United States is a great example of someone who focuses on rolling, enigmatic, and mmersive sounds.new realm and fusing them with the 170 rhythms and recognisable structures we all know and love.

This deep, rolling liquid is rich in texture and expertly and subtly  created. A powerful combination of angular beats, snarling bass, and grime-tinged synths creates a track that is full of brooding energy.
 
The song's heart undoubtedly embodies duality; glistening synth leads evoking Blade Runner coexist with hard-edged  break chops  that masterfully combine dark and light.

Following the success of the first instalment of the Heavy Sonics Next Gen series back in December, we return with another ridiculous 4-track EP with a variety of vibes, all killer and no filler!

The "Next Gen" series is aimed at uncovering and promoting up and coming talent in the underground scene from across the globe. Vol. 2 features 6 completely new artists to Heavy Sonics and following the high bar that Vol.1 set, this tracklist does not disappoint. 

The EP kicks off with "Work" from Serbian newcomer Sneaky. With tight production and a rolling bassline, this one will get you moving and eject you into a different galaxy. In our opinion, this track would not be out of place on a compilation such as the Invisible series from the Vision Recordings camp. We're excited to see and hear more of the talented Sneaky soon.

The second track is from Heavy Sonics favourite DJ/producer, Counter Culture. The track, "Percolate", is a deep number from CC who is experimenting with the darker side of minimal drum and bass. This one fits perfectly on the B side of the release and would go off in any club on a big system. Counter Culture shows his versatility on this one, moving away from his usual silky liquid drum and bass vibes.

The next track is a collaboration between US-based Skorpion and UK-based Sceptre. "Jungle Curry" is a high-energy and frenetic track with a big bassline and punchy drums. This one will take you rolling into the weekend and is a serious weapon for any DJ to draw for. Skorpion and Sceptre are a spicy collaboration and also wicked individual artists in their own right, so go and check them out!

Last but not least on the compilation is all-round sound fanatic, Trench, featuring the mesmerising vocals of the talented Katja. Being a sound recordist and engineer, Trench has been crafting his sound over the years and we love what he is currently putting out. The track "Wanted" is a stripped-back number with funky drums and instrumental elements that add soul alongside the amazing vocals. The amount of groove on this one is 11/10 and we are really happy to close out the EP with this track.

With a bit of everything, Next Gen Vol. 2 hits all the vibes that we love, from deep and dark, to heavy and frenetic, to light and jazzy. Whether you are listening at home or loading up your USB for the club, there's something on here for you.

The Heavy Sonics "Next Gen" series is dedicated to nurturing and promoting emerging artists and this release is a must-listen for anyone looking to stay ahead of the curve in the underground drum and bass scene. Keep an eye on these rising stars; they are only just getting started!

Liam Harrison, aka Enta, has been producing and releasing under the alias since 2016 and whilst he’s nearly 10 years deep into the Enta journey, he has many more years of musical experience under his belt having previously been a drummer and released under other pseudonyms.

Honing his sound primarily on Biological Beats, by way of several singles and his debut album Digital Rage in 2022, Enta is no stranger to the underground. Having also released on Souped Up, Hospital, Delta9 and Eatbrain, it is clear Enta has some serious sonic capability! Now we welcome him to release on Soulvent Records, delivering his signature style of angry bass and precision production, certain to make you sit up and listen.

‘Behave’ springs to life with the affirmation that you cannot escape the long arm of the law. Crispy drums provide the foundation for some seriously warped and strained bass notes. The powerful bass line and progression throughout will leave even the most durable speakers craving a night in the slammer to rest. The breakdown comes but does not let up, drums giving even more space to showcase Enta’s expertise with a synthesizer.

Come and get stuck into a track that breaks all the rules and shells harder than that lady you heard about making a living by the sea. Out in all good stores on 7th June.
