This is the first track I wrote for my own amusement. I recorded the acoustic guitars and thought it needed something to make it kick off halfway through the song, added the drums and bass and it turned into a completely different beast to the Sun Kil Moon-type thing I was originally aiming for. But I'm really pleased with it, it's funny how shit turns out the way you weren't expecting it to. Lyrics and vocals to come at some point. I've backed myself into a corner if I ever want to play live though...

Go - Faster Stripes instrumental

This is the newest song I wrote. I came up with the main riffs just as a jam on the guitar, and built on it from there. I didn't initially have the stomp/drum thing going through the whole song, but I thought it'd be too similar to Go-Faster Stripes if the first half had no percussion and the second half did. The delay on the lead guitars was accidental too. Not sure if it's too much but I like the way some of the notes seem to hang and dance around each other like a wind chime

Cicada Killer Instrumental

This an acoustic rendition of a track, called Nothing Is True... Everything Is Permitted, written by my band, XIII. I wrote this version a year or two ago and did a couple of acoustic sets with our bassist. They went quite well but singing (as opposed to shouting like I do with XIII) is still scary as shit! Anyway, I liked writing this version of the song, it was cool trying to keep the vibe of the original track while making it work with the acoustic guitar, cutting some of the riffs out that didn't translate over so well etc.

I also think I'm slowly starting to get the hang of this mixing/mastering malarky. I could maybe do to knock the treble down on this one, the cymbals are a bit piercing, but other than that I don't think it sounds too bad. I'm wondering if I'm starting to go overboard with the delay on the guitars though... It just sounds so fuckin cool!
