Oliver Huntemann always delivers - especially on his own Senso imprint. After two decades at the forefront of the European scene, to see his name on a record gua- rantees deep and deeply accomplished techno with a precise, refined production and high-definition details.
Both tunes on this double-header live up to the billing. 'Pech' is a masterclass in the selection and combination of tone, texture and the thoughtful treatments applied to them. A long two-minute build paves the way for a sustained bass tone that teases the listener with well-timed pitch bends. Elements unfold and flower organically as the tune reaches its climax of dancing synth lines.
'Schwefel' takes a voyage into more eerie territory, full of echo and distant music- box pings. Huntemann balances these delicate melodic sounds with gritty synth repetitions that finally win the day to deliver a surging, stirring and deeply memo- rable roller.

<p>After their appearance on our &#8220;Abilities&#8221; compilation, Steam Shape come out swinging with four shadowy tracks. &#8220;Output&#8221; is up first, with hypnotic electronics clearing the way for grand stabs and melodic riffs over a grinding rhythm section. &#8220;Eris&#8221; picks up from there and whips out the looped-out vocals, as acidic phrases and shattering sub-bass interlock effortlessly with the rocksteady drumset. The title tracks&#8217;s rumbling low-end provides the perfect backdrop for creeping synthesis and tasty, staccato chords which ultimately lead us to the closing &#8220;Predestination&#8221; where we are introduced to frantic claps, unfolding synths and haunting phrases.</p>

André Winter has been working under various collaborative pseudonyms and diverse aliases while shaping the sound of today's club scene. Since starting to release under his own name in 2005, Winter has found regular homes on Ideal Audio and now Senso Sounds. Delivering a double header on this release, Winter proves he remains ahead of the pack. 'Cascadeur' is a techno bomb - deep and driving with plenty of attitude. The thick bass tones rumble through the track, while a trippy vocal adds another dimension for the dancers. 'Fléaux' is cut from the same cloth - a companion piece to 'Cascadeur' that uses the same sound palette to create another twist on Winter’s blueprint. Marco Resmann returns to Watergate after a productive stint at the Red Bull Music Studios in Cape Town with two stellar cuts featuring local heroes Deep Aztec and Black Soda. Tack on a remix from the one and only Oliver Huntemann and another revision from Resmann himself and you have the ‘Babylon Side’ EP.
Teaming up to kick things off, Resmann, Black Soda and Deep Aztec embrace the cultural sounds of Africa's organic percussion and vocal prowess to create a tour de force tune perfectly balance between flashing club lights and vast open skies. Following suit, ‘Abadala’ sees Marco again with Deep Aztec for a lush ride into deep emotional spaces by applying mesmerizing syncopated rhythms and spellbinding vocals ideal for deeper or more sentimental dance floor moments.

Up next is Techno legend Oliver Huntemann who, playing after Resmann earlier this year at the 15 years of Watergate event at Warung Beach Club in Brazil enjoyed his set and the two hit it off, so logically he was asked to lend his trademark sound for a revision of ‘Babylon Side’ and he twists the original into a heavy Techno belter complete with sinister sonics and fever inducing sirens. Wrapping things up is Marco Resmann himself with his own take on ‘Babylon Sides’ and delivers a wild and twisted version of gargantuan low end and psychedelic shimmers of the original vocal resulting in a killer tune with a ton of attitude.

Following a streak of weighty releases from Ante Perry, Veerus, Roumex, Illyus & Barrientos and label founders Tube & Berger, Kittball now invite Marcus Meinhardt to their roster. Originally from Thüringen but now based in Berlin, the Heinz Music founder is well known for his releases on Katermukke, Hive Audio and SNOE. With piercing percussion and spectral atmospherics, ‘Duke’ is an ominous number featuring soaring synths and tantalizing melodies. Township Rebellion’s remix then marches forward with a chugging bassline, snappy snares and epic chords until Jiggler concludes the package with a low-slung rendition complete with purring bass, dystopian effects and a compelling groove.
