In the spring of 1989 - rising from the ashes of back then legendary Heidelberg metal heroes ATTACK - the remaining members formed BARFLY. Named after the movie of the same name (starring an ingenious Mickey Rourke in the role of Charles Bukowski), they packed their main influences Judas Priest, Motörhead and AC/DC into a raw and dirty melange of that and created what they thought would name the outcome best: Dirt Metal. Over the next 5 years until the exitus in 1994, the five party-hards took their wild  und untamed attitude out on the road for numerous gigs nationwide and into the studio for three demos: „Barfly at the BeatHouse“ (1989), „Stone d’in the Bassdrum“ (1990) and „The Malpractice“ (1992). In their heyday between 1990 and 1993, the most stable and essential line-up consisted of: Harry Weber (Vox), Alexander „Schellich“ Klinkenberg (g), Martin Häusler (g), Uli Lenz (b) and Danny Busch (dr).
