Barnt and Stephan Bodzin, two artists whose stand-out performances at recent Afterlife events have made them firm favourites with the crowds, are tapped for the remixes of Tale Of Us & Vaal's latest single 'Monument' (AL006). They both take on the title track, Barnt opting for a rolling, percussive direction and Bodzin more ethereal and transportive. For the digital-only third contribution, Adriatique (the Swiss duo of Adrian Schweizer and Adrian Shala) give the drums some extra punch and cloak the vocal in spacey reverb.

Over the years, Berlin has been cited as Oliver Koletzkis main point of reference and, more importantly, his endless source of inspiration. His albums Großstadtmärchen and Großstadtmärchen 2 are wholehearted tributes of the German capital, as its importance is continuously hinted and charted. Friedrichshain, one of Berlins vibrant districts, has always held a special place in Olivers heart. This is where he started out when he first moved to the city, and this is where he lives now. Kreuzbergs wall paintings adorn Stil Vor Talent s cover sleeves and host their headquarters. There are little to no corners in the city that havent brought a spark of inspiration into the mix. The Schneeweiss compilation series, now at its eighth installment, is built as a form of tribute to all these particles, tied in together into a series of carefully curated tracks. Each compilation stands at the intersection of the musical and cultural surroundings most prominent of their respective times, acting both as a reminder as well as a timeless sound capsule for the years to come.

Madrid-based producer Bawrut is back on Ransom Note with his '4x4' EP consisting of four leftfield bangers, including the peak-time techno cut 'Three Sounds' that delivers pure dancefloor euphoria.

A regular player on the Ransom Note imprint, Bawrut has emerged in recent years with widely discussed sets at Sonar and Farr festivals, as well as having his music soundtrack numerous adverts for Fabric events. Its been more than 2 years since I did an original release on my own label. Its been 9 months since I had an original NOIR release. I wanted some time without releases. Some time to breathe, to think and most importantly time to be creative and to experiment. I have picked 2 productions I felt sounded different to everything else out here.

Eruption was already made in the fall 2017 and I have been road-testing it since ADE17 and changed it quite a lot over the 6 months period from when I thought it was finished to what it actually sounds like now. I wanted the track to be brutal like a volcano erupting but at the same time have beautiful and peaceful elements. Hence the breakdown lava sliding into the middle of the track before it all erupts again. I have spent many hours trying to make it sound raw and unpolished.

Disruption is build around a super simple sequence loop I played by hand while jamming with new pluck sounds. As the sequence got layered and washed in effects it became a quite haunting loop and that led me to add a boys choir to give that feel bigger impact.This track sounds simpler than Eruption but its actually stacked with layers. Disruption is meant to make you close your eyes, follow the rhythm, the simple sequenced loop and get hypnotized.

Track of the Day: Victor Ruiz “The Eye of the Beholder”

It doesn’t get much bigger than this: Adam Beyer links up with Green Velvet and Drumcode’s outstanding rising star Layton Giordani for a debut collaboration.

Some musical partnerships feel fated. Both fans of one another’s work, for years Adam Beyer and Green Velvet had discussed writing music together. In turn, Beyer’s protégé Layton Giordani had admired the Chicagoan’s work for as long as he could remember. When the 25-year-old found himself playing alongside the green mohawked legend at Belfast’s Shine, the spark and subsequent friendship was immediate. With the links now set in place, it was only a matter of time before the trio’s creative chemistry would manifest musically.

‘Space Date’ was conceived organically and birthed quickly. Propelled by Green Velvet’s trademark vocal hypnotism, the triumvirate combine to craft a pumping intergalactic slice of techno laced in melody that’s highlighted sets by Beyer at Awakenings, Ushuaia and also EDC Vegas when Green Velvet dropped it to a raucous response. The track is complimented by ‘Rome Future’, the product of a year-long series of productions between Beyer and Giordani. Deftly combining crisp drum work, catchy vocal effects and a powerful bassline melody that gives the track an almighty kick, it will be familiar to many who’ve followed their sets over recent months.

Both 'Palladium' as well as 'Gravity' are immaculate fresh sounding productions, top drawer material! With the title track clearly being the more peak time intended cut of the two, 'Gravity' shows the dreamy deeper, yet groovy side of the duo.
