Great Expectations -Demo (Unreleased)

The B-side to the Monkey Puzzle single, Familiar, recorded in 2003.
An experiment to see if I could write a song using just 2 chords.
Although Familiar was released to radio and received significant airplay, it was never official released for sale before the band went on hiatus in late 2003. Both songs will be re-recorded and released on a solo Danny Rascal album in 2024.

I'd broken up with my girlfriend, Angie just before the band started... she had joined the Airforce and sent me a 'Dear John' letter to end the relationship...I was quite sad at the time so I wrote an angry song to her!

There was a girl...there often is... this one in particular was the only one I ever regretted losing...I was a terrible human being at the time, and I left her to be with the person who eventually became my wife... leaving her was The Dumbest Thing I Ever Did...

Recorded live in Provence, and released on both the Alive, Awake, and Nearly Sober, and Turn Down The Shit Knob albums in 2002 and 2003.

Another one of those ghosts from the past, written in 2009, and originally part of The Rascal Kings set… it felt like it fit with all the other songs on this new album.

Originally written in 1999, about I girl I met at the launch party for Monkey Puzzle’s ‘Chew This…’ E.P (Dec 6 1999)….it knocked around the set for a few months, but didn’t really fit with the other songs.. I revisited it for the new album, and reimagined it to what you hear, almost 25 years since it was first written.

Let’s keep it simple… I’m Danny, I’ve done some stuff, seen some things… none of that really means much in this weird new digital age in which I find myself… these are a few of the songs I’ve written over the years.. I hope someone enjoys them.
