Bleep, bleep, bleep...rare experiment from Optical, made in the Metrostore in Acton, first day in a new room to try out a track and never released....(complete with bad hiss from lining the plate up to dj with ;o])

DJ Ink's Architecture imprint continues to shine as beacon for forward thinking contemporary Drum & Bass.  Next up on the label is the XIII EP from American producer Sinistarr.  4 tracks which effortlessly combine new sounds and drum experimentation without giving away any of its heads down dance floor effectiveness.
"Riff 2" feat Tim Reaper brings together an 808 based Juke drum bed with a quirky electric organ riff, Bukem-esque ambiance washes and Jungle bass tones.
On "Succubus" Sinistarr takes things in a darker more sinister direction, laying loose Jungle breaks, off kilter bleeps and a breathy "I Need U" vocal over deep , pulsing bass stabs,  evoking sonic memories of Jonny L 's late 90's output.
Lead track "XIII" goes straight for the jugular with Hardcore stabs, mentasm streaks and pummeling bass over a skittering, punching drum bed. 303 riffs and helicopter breaks  come in mid way to complete the future-retro journey.  Excellent!
Rounding out the EP, Sinistarr channels his Studio Drum influence layering Bristol style beats and rolling bass with a reversing rare groove sample, but freshening up the pallet with more Juke influenced 808 drum work.  Equally at home on a Bryan G mix tape from 1996, or a Machine Drum Boiler room set from last week.
"The XII EP" reintroduces Sinistarr as an exciting production talent in Drum & Bass bringing fresh ideas to the table, and makes a stunning addition to Architectures already stellar discography.

Following the hugely successful debut of our ‘Dispatch Dubplate’ label, with the first two vinyl releases selling out across all stores, we're proud to welcome #3 in the series, led predominantly by label favourite DLR. Much like the previous Dubplates, each vinyl will showcase a thicker set 180 grams in weight, hand numbered (1 – 300), hand-stamped, signed, with an added label sticker pack with all 300; never to be re-pressed.

Setting off the release, we're pleased to release our most in-demand dub from the past year; the mighty Break & DLR rework everyone has waited for – “Murmur VIP”. With the original first appearing in 2012 on Octane & DLR's “Method In The Madness” album, the Break & DLR VIP has revitalized the initial buzz of an already popular track, in spectacular fashion. Causing havoc on dancefloors worldwide, it has already seen heavy rotational support by Friction on his BBC Radio 1 show (with 6 plays on the show in total to date).

In addition, we present a new, original track from DLR; the immaculately detailed “Regeneration”. This drops us right back to the late 90s with a cosmic vibe that pays homage to the Virus / Konflict era, brought right up to date. Although delivered in a superbly tight, modern construct, it never loses its old school essence and authenticity. This release features two versions of the track, the “Generated Mix” is exclusive to the vinyl format, whilst the gnarly “Metamorphosis Mix” also features as a digital only bonus, both offering a very different take on a track that (in its original form) was never planned or set to surface, so we felt it fitting for this to appear on the Dispatch Dubplate label.

Completing the Dubplate comes the second re-work of the release, as “Tugboat” receives the remix treatment, with “The Moneyshot VIP” appearing on both vinyl and digital formats. A new take on DLR’s solo Dispatch single from 2013, the VIP is nothing short of a huge re-work and a complete re-invention of the original, taking a much more stepping dance floor approach from start to finish.

This release features a vinyl only track “Regeneration (Generated Mix)”. This will not be available in digital format at all. Vinyl buyers will be able to download all the other tracks, however this dubplate exclusive mix will never be available in any other format.

Each vinyl purchase will receive free 320kbps mp3 & wav files of all the available digital tracks. These will only become available to download on the Friday before general release and no sooner – this is the 20th of March as general release date is the 23rd March.

You’d be hard pressed to come up with a production team with as diverse a CV as Decoder and Substance. Part of the hugely influential mid-nineties Bristol scene, between them they’ve run labels, promoted events, run a record shop and produced a slew of cutting edge underground D&B. And that’s before we even get into what they’ve achieved with their worldwide chart-conquering band Kosheen. And now, for the first time in over a decade, we have some brand new Decoder and Substance material.
Red rolls in with a stripped-back rough-edged drum loop straight from the old skool. In the upper registers, Susie Ledge’s sparkling vocals meld with silk-smooth strings to hold a perfect counterbalance. Then there’s a hint of danger as bass tones rear their head, and the one and only Jakes steps up to the mic to signal the launch of a full-scale junglist assault. And better watch out for that second drop that takes things to a whole new level of filth.
Then Document One get their hands on the stems, and show how they do things. They open up with a pristine electro-tinged combination of percussive arpeggios and reprocessed snippets of Ms Ledge’s vocals to create a whole new vibe. The drop brings out a liquid side to the tune, adding the funk that Document One like to bring to the party. Tight drum programming, syncopated bass and builds reinforced with Jakes bars mean that this mix is aimed directly at the dancefloor.
Finally, LA’s in the house as Kronology bring their style to bear on Red too. They’ve deconstructed the track
and scientifically re-engineered it as a DJ weapon, bringing energy straight from the word go. Rolling drums support the vocals in the intro, before a mighty detuned bassline drops. And the track keeps building from there, as additional layers of percussion raise the temperature. Adding in the extra ingredient of Susie’s vocals and modulating pads give an extra twist of euphoria to proceedings. This is one to keep the rave moving.
Red combines the dark rave elements of classic Decoder and Substance tunes with the sultry soul that made Kosheen a household name across the globe. Their road-hardened experience combined

Fred V & Grafix, the dynamic duo from Devon, present their debut solo single on Hospital. “Goggles” is a four-track EP featuring the full spectrum of their sound. The “Goggles” EP is fresh, fun and jam-packed with exciting, dancefloor-driven beats that should excite and unite D&B fans for 2013.

With its unassuming bleep intro, “Goggles” will no doubt take some by surprise with its subterranean sounds as bubbling bass and intricate arpeggios develop into the kind of aquatic frenzy you won't have witnessed since doing 50 metres butterfly at school. But wait, “Games People Play” ups the ante with a more recognisable Fred V & Grafix aesthetic - full of polished vocal glow, warm atmospherics, punchy drums and live guitar from Fred Vahrman himself.

Returning to a stripped back, contemplative tone and we have “Denmark Road” with its shimmying soundscape, shuffling breaks and murmuring Calibre-esque sweeps. Beware the epic “Basilisk” awaiting at the end of the EP. This monster has a hypnotizing intro, then bites deep, with a drop dominated by dense, contorting synth work. Awesome.
