On the 21st of March 2014 we will be celebrating 5 years of Home Normal. It has been an incredible journey to get this far and we never could have reached it without the kind support of talented artists and all the wonderful people who have ever bought one of our releases or attended one of our shows.

In this modern digital age with its constant stream of information, we've sought to work as quietly as possible, firmly rooting our ethos that things can be released in a subtle, quiet way. 'Organic' has always been the key word, and we are so thankful that people seem to still appreciate the natural path we've chosen, ignoring all the noise that surrounds our chosen way.

To celebrate this great landmark for us, we will be releasing our 5th year compilation 'Elements'. With over 60 artists from our past, present and future involved, this five disc compilation will be raising money for 5 different charities which are close to our hearts. All profits from the releases will be donated to the charities as follows:

Elements One (地)
The Archway Foundation is a charity that was set-up by my father which aids those who suffer from loneliness through outreach, social events, and befriending.

Elements Two (水)
The British Heart Foundation fund extra research into the causes, diagnosis, treatment and prevention of heart and circulatory disease.

Elements Three (火)
ecoACTIVE is an innovative environmental education charity with a reputation for using hands-on, practical and fun approaches to explore complex issues of sustainability.

Elements Four (風)
Habitat Japan is very close to our hearts as they help to build houses for people who lost their homes in Sendai and Fukushima. They also provide valuable support worldwide to those in most need.

Elements Five (空)
Kalaweit is a wonderful charity my wife supports regularly. Its main objective is to save the gibbons of Indonesia and their habitat. In addition to this they also educate the local community about deforestation, as well as the dangers of increased use of palm oil leading to a rapid destruction of their habitat and continuing loss of biodiversity. Such education and protection is fundamental in one of the mot incredible (but poorly protected) countries in the world.

Every now and then, a song comes around that really hits you and speaks to you on a deeper level. AURORA “Lucky” was that song for me. It has brought tears to my eyes and has put me in a state of gratitude each time I’ve listened to it. It reminds me just how lucky I truly am to be alive as well as how lucky I am to have my family and friends that are alive and well. 13 years ago I battled stage IV cancer. I’ve lived to tell the tale, live a healthy life creating music and making my dreams come true. I try to say “thank you” daily for this life, and remain in the vibration of gratitude, no matter how bad things can get. Life truly is a gift that can often be taken for granted. The biggest gift is realizing how lucky we all really are to be alive and have this very moment. This is why I felt so compelled to remix this song. I hope you enjoy:)

My inspiration has come less from music these days and more with my interests in the state of the world, the paranormal, space, quantum theories, etc. I think the biggest inspiration I’ve had was my battle with cancer though. I had stage IV testicular cancer that put my life on hold for a year of treatment. It was through that experience and volunteering in the hospital afterward to talk with other cancer patients that I grew so much spiritually and formed an emotional view on life that I’ve put into my music everyday since. Its easy to say this now, eight years later, but if I was offered the choice to go back I would go through the whole cancer experience again just to be who I am today.

"Synesthesia" was a labor of love, and an adventure of exploration and self-discovery. The intention was to create musical imagery, sounds that would spark colors and visuals in your mind's eye, hence the title "Synesthesia".

(the production of a sense impression relating to one sense or part of the body by stimulation of another sense or part of the body. Like seeing colors when hearing music. Ability to see/hear colors aids them in identifying notes or keys. The colors triggered by certain sounds, and any other synesthetic visual experiences, are referred to as photisms.)
