With a string of chart hits and countless underground favourites to his name, Vito Lucente is one of Europe’s essential house names. From the international cross-over hit ‘Make Luv’ produced under his Room 5 moniker, his Junior Jack alias allowed him to explore a much clubbier sound. Releasing a number of Defected catalogue essentials including ‘Thrill Me’ and ‘E Samba’ as Junior Jack, his joyous vocal cut ‘Hold Me Up’ has been the only time Vito has used the aptly named Glory project, featuring the unmistakable vocals of Jocelyn Brown. Released originally in 2003, Defected now enlist two of the label’s nearest and dearest to remix. Up first, chart-topping Dutchman Ferreck Dawn delivers a club-ready version, before Full Intention’s Michael Gray follows with his joyous, piano-laden mix.

Kaluki Musik sets opens 2017 on fine form with ‘Smoke Signals Vol.1’, featuring Patrick Topping, Richy Ahmed, Pirate Copy and Francisco Allendes.

With 2016 marking a milestone for the Kaluki imprint via releases from Carlo Lio, Citizenn, Jey Kurmis and label founders Pirate Copy, 2017 is set to elevate the party and record label to new levels. Perfectly setting the tone for what’s to come the imprints first release welcomes two key players in contemporary house onto it’s roster, namely Hot Creations’ very own Patrick Topping and Richy Ahmed, whilst also shining light on one of the promising up and coming acts this year, Francisco Allendes.
Patrick Topping’s ‘Yes Chief’ takes the lead on the package with throbbing subs and shuffled snares running alongside electro arpeggios and old school rave chants before Richy Ahmed’s ‘Visions’ lays down robust rhythms, a fluttering bass line and hooky vocal shots with a steadily blossoming dynamic.

Label-heads Pirate Copy step up next with ‘House Music’, as the name would suggest laying down a straight dance floor focused house groove and instilling some hip-house vocal accompaniments before Francisco Allendes’ ‘House Train’ closes out the package on a stripped-back vibe, focusing on raw percussive and spiralling bass swells.

Sam Divine is back at it, joining forces once again with labelmate CASSIMM for a three-track EP of summer-ready stompers. CASSIMM has been a regular on D-Vine Sounds since 2015, collaborating earlier this year with Sam on a remix of Kristine Blond’s ‘Love Shy’, a Traxsource No.1 and Beatport House No.2. With a track record like that and such great chemistry in the studio, it’s set to be more of the same from ‘In Da Nation EP’.

Designed with the club in mind, this EP delivers back-to-back movers, leaning heavily on tight forward-moving beats and hooks. The title track bubbles over a tight rolling groove, while ‘To The Beat’ has an irresistible tech-inclined bounce. ‘Can’t Stop The House’, which features the voice of Twirl Recordings boss Alinka serving pure Chicago house credibility, finishes off this EP of pure club staples.

Sam Divine & CASSIMM 'Can't Stop The House'

After getting Defected’s attention with his 'Disco Connection' release in 2016, Italian DJ Qubiko blossoms with this production debut for Defected Records. ‘These Days EP’ is a three-track release featuring some quintessential Defected moments. The title track, a collaboration with young fellow Italian K-909, has echoes of Kings Of Tomorrow’s style, with velvety female vocals over a club-focused 4/4. Likewise, ‘Set Me Free’ features gorgeous vocals and tight hi-hat accents giving it that classic house association, while ‘Raw Luv’ goes deeper with a steady disco build and a pacey feel-good vibe. It’s a timeless piece of work from the Defected newcomer.

Qubiko & K-909 'These Days'

Italian DJ/producer Qubiko has recently been turning heads with his signature bouncing basslines and feel-good sound, remixing the likes of Sonny Fodera, Dennis Cruz and Joeski as well as releasing an impressive discography of his own material. Now, following on from the ‘These Days EP’ he released on Defected, Qubiko makes a stellar debut on DFTD, the label that brings you all things club inclined. Comprised of two tracks, ‘U R’ is an upfront delivery of house heat, with both cuts ready to set dancefloors alight this summer.
