New York, August xx, 2015—Hot Peas ‘N Butter, a NYC based multicultural family music band, is known for their Latin-influenced, catchy songs for kids. They’ve been featured on Nick Jr. and Jack’s Big Music Show TV, partnered with St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, won Parents’ Choice Awards, and brought many thousands of fans to their feet on their national tours.  This fall, Hot Peas ‘N Butter reinvents itself with fresh talent and a multilayered sound as they release their 7th studio album, Put Our Heads Together . The album (September 25) features kindie rock superstar Dan Zanes on the bilingual single “Amistad.” More information is available at www.hotpeasnbutter.com . 

From Afro-Cuban rhythms to the latest Hip-Hop, World-Pop, to Reggaeton sounds, Put Our Heads Together offers a new sound for kids and their parents to share together. The album evolved over two years, beginning with singles “Here at Last,” “Graduation Day” and “Fresh Spokes.”  

As band leader Danny Lapidus recalls, “Each song we wrote led us toward a theme, which became the enduring nature of friendship and how we all need to look out for one another.” The “king of kids’ music” Dan Zanes joins the band for the single and forthcoming music video “Amistad,” which includes some of the best musicians in NYC like Clifford Carter (Paul simon and James Taylor’s band) and the legendary Lew Soloff (Machito, Miles Davis, Blood Sweat and Tears and on and on!) as well as a host of real lifelong friends who appear on the video. A host of vibrant kids’ voices grace a new arrangement of “Hot Peas ‘n Butter!” the group’s “theme” song  on the album.

Hot Peas ‘N Butter, the Nickelodeon/Noggin TV favorites whom the Los Angeles Times lauded for their “hot and mellow multicultural groove” and whose music brings “a wealth of listening pleasure” according to Cookie Magazine, introduces a collection of upbeat music on: Best of the Bowl, Ingles y Español.  Guest artists on this lively, danceable collection of songs include Puerto Rican musical legend Yomo Toro.

This recorded mix of Hot Peas ‘N Butter reflects their roots in Caribbean Latin American tradition as well as their pop musical sensibilities. The 11 songs on Best of the Bowl feature a range of Caribbean styles, from merengue to Puerto Rican bomba and plena. Intriguing sounds of the Cuban guaguancó blend with salsa. Some songs are in English, some in Spanish, and some blend the two languages for a tasty mix of sounds and themes.

Some of these songs, including “Somos Familia,” “Pollito/ Chicken” and “Baila,” have appeared on other Hot Peas ‘n Butter CDs, but the recording was entirely re-recorded and produced for a fuller and more exciting sound than ever.  The song “Rayos Diferente” is a new version of Hot Peas ‘N Butter’s hit song “Different Spokes for Different Folks” from the award-winning CD Volume 4: The Pod Squad. This bicycle safety song was commissioned by St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital for their “Trike a Thon” program. St. Jude will launch a similar program in Puerto Rico this fall, using the new song. The original video of this song airs regularly on Nick Jr./Nickelodeon TV and is viewable among other music videos at www.hotpeasnbutter.com. 

By combining an interactive, invigorating approach to performance with mature, multicultural music, Hot Peas ‘N Butter has developed a distinct way of inspiring care and creativity in kids and adults alike.

New York, April 30, 2008 -- Hot Peas ‘N Butter, the New York City based world-pop group known for their “sizzling percussive beats” and “hand-clappy Latin party music,” will release a brand-new CD, Hot Peas ‘N Butter Volume 4: The Pod Squad. The collection of original and traditional tunes features the legendary cuatro player Yomo Toro, and the incomparable guitarist Mike Stern plus a host of other great musicians and a lively children’s chorus.  The Pod Squad will be available June 10th at retailers nationwide and directly from www.hotpeasnbutter.com. 

The 13 tracks on The Pod Squad offer a range of styles, many with crisp and inviting Latin and jazzy rhythms that make it impossible for listeners to sit still. “This is our best recording ever; you can really hear the musicians breathe life into every song,” says Lapidus, who  serves as the band’s  co-producer. Cotto agrees, “The whole process of making it was easy and fun. The music really flowed because we all went in with the vibe that we would have a good time.”

A featured track is “Different Spokes for Different Folks,” an original bicycle safety song in a country blues style. “Different Spokes” is also a music video airing daily on Noggin TV. The tune was written to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and their national “Trike-a-Thon” campaign, launched last fall and continuing this year (more information is at www.stjude.org/trike).
