DR's Prescriptions - Episode 2 (Oct 14 2014)

This is a remix of the track 'Arose'  from Thomas Newman's  score to the film American Beauty.  I did this mix back in around 2002-2003,  still sounds trippy and nice to my ears.  I especially like the backwards strings bit,  really gooey in the cosmos.

Holidrone 1

Another drone performed by Patrick R Barnett on the FP4 Rhodes done around December 2011.  Guitar amp rhodes treatment, MIDI programming and Live FX by Dan Ross.  The pulsing sound in the left speaker is the tremolo from the fender guitar amp.

My first completed original stuff of the year :)  Kind of a journey thru time signatures and interpretations of one mutating idea.   I'm stoked about how psychedelic it turned out!

Rapture C

A pretty simple song about living without regret or doubt.   This was started with a really interesting drone I recorded from my driveway last summer.   I think it may have been a train moving slowly and resonating with the railway tracks across the water from my house,   either way its nearly a perfect D note just slightly sharp,  with all the cool sub series of harmonics as well.  So I tuned my guitar and (broken) autoharp to the same resonance and here ya go.  This track has a very wide dynamic range and should be played as loud as you find comfortable.

Open Letter

MMkay,  this song has been in the works for probably six months-ish,  started with the piano part,   vocal idea came pretty quickly afterwards.  Took many many many months of practice to be able to actually perform it all the way thru.   I'm really into the idea of using whole takes lately,  thats pretty much what this is,  the bass part had some punch ins because i just dont play the thing enough to be that proficient.    Drums and Vox are both one takes,  piano was done in two sections but no editing.  Bgs were all done in a row while looping,  no edits.  Pretty happy with it!
