Janeret makes his FUSE debut as the Paris-based talent serves up a selection of cuts across ‘Quasar’.

When it comes to artists at the forefront of France’s rich house and minimal scene, a name at the top of most people’s lists would have to be Janeret. A core figure at the heart of Paris’ electronic landscape and a key part of the Yoyaku family, a flag-bearer of the country’s now globally renowned minimal landscape, the Joule boss has grown and evolved to bring his unique take on the genre to the masses with a selection of diverse releases via the likes of Up The Stuss, Berg Audio and Rutilance Recordings. Having featured on line ups for London mainstays FUSE while also playing for their sister label LOCUS, March welcomes the Frenchman’s first music on the label as he makes his debut with five slick productions across his expansive EP, ‘Quasar’.

Title track ‘Quasar’ is a bumping peak-time affair as skipping drums meet sweeping pads and echoed vocals.

PREMIERE: Subb-an - Patterns [Sub Series]

Harrison BDP makes it a hat trick of releases via Dansu Discs with his ‘Orbiter’ EP. The release includes a pair of remixes from one of the godfathers of the modern UK house sound, Archie Hamilton, returning the favour following Harrison’s double pack of remixes on his ‘Kick It’ EP on the same imprint last year.

The EP commences with the title track ‘Orbiter’. An intergalactic jam like the title suggests, trippy synthesisers, organs and a bass line deeper than the Atlantic characterise the impressive opener. ‘Couch Surfer’ is next up which is slightly darker in tone whilst sticking to the EP’s overall psychedelic motif.

Archie Hamilton then steps up adding his trademark spin on the aforementioned tracks. Intricate drum programming and hip shaking bass lines are some of the stand out elements of Archie’s interpretations leading to an exceptionally well rounded four tracker from the Dansu Discs crew.

SlapFunk Records strikes again with a solo EP by none other than Huerta. While having released a wide variety of music with a strong own identity, it’s fair to say that he fully incorporated the SlapFunk vision on this one. Even though all 5 tracks have a different character, they all share the same energetic beats specially designed for the dancefloor. This reflection is clearly the core of the artwork made by Firpo a.k.a. Freshcore. On the other hand, the graphic design by Studio Airport truly does justice to the the work of both Huerta and Firpo it deserves. Huerta his strong musical and intelligent identity, makes him one to keep an eye on closely.
