Rising Parisian-talent Berzingue makes a welcome return to Pont Neuf this February, serving up a five-track EP in the form of Quitter Paname. It acts as his first-ever solo release and marks the label’s maiden release of 2022, signifying a fresh milestone for Berzingue and kicking off a stellar release schedule for the French imprint. 

Woodflaure soon arrives, with punchy kick-hat combos residing next to glitchy synth tones to create a latenight, dancefloor cut, before L’impasse takes its place. Ethereal and emotive, the resonant bassline reminds us that this is a club-driven number, whilst celestial synths transport us to a world far removed from ours. “I made Woodflaure in one go, after one of our gigs as ALVA on Concrete’s Woodfloor in Paris. It’s a euphoric and festive house tribute to this place, whereas L’impasse is more
electro and braindance oriented. The name refers to where I lived in Paris for two years, in the Pigalle district”.

'We welcome Jack George’s Roma EP for Chikyu’s 24th release. Jack is a DJ from Los Angeles, currently based out of Montreal. The title track of this EP blends stuttered percussion over a warm, textured soundscape with some jazzy chords and a rolling bass line. In suit, 'Mania' delivers punchy drum patterns and a growling low end laden with rich dub chords and an electrifying modular ambiance. The final original in the project is a hypnotically spaced-out break, perfect for the early morning dance floor. French producer and long time friend, Luminescu, reworks this one for an energetically warbled journey that builds and evolves as it spirals out of itself. A truly eclectic project, each track has its time and place.'

Just short of their milestone tenth release, Haŵs pulls up the inimitable DJ Chupacabra (and alias of Davide Piras) for his debut. ‘Yard Club’ takes the intimacy of hazy, expectant dancefloors and transfers it into four subtle shades that demonstrate the understated power of the warmup track – or the after-hours wind-down. 

It’s a neat pool of stripped-back UKG and house that brings up the same delicious sensations of a rollercoaster slowly approaching its descent or recovering from its fall. Where these tools get put into practice is totally up to imagination.
