Originally from West Wales now residing in Amsterdam in a studio nestled beside the river Ij, Maroki now joins the ROOS family following a string of stellar releases. He leaves nothing to chance, using his classically trained skills and expertly engineered sounds into a pool of influences that range from breaks, moon-lit acid and heads-down chuggy goodness. 

The record launches with title track ‘Emerald City’ a moody cut that whisks you away from the city's bustling streets and off the beaten track. Maroki’s fixed hand helps elements blend seamlessly into another, in what feels like a personal guide through the emerald’s subterranean. Then comes the gentle and tranquil electronics of ‘Alfred Stole My Brain’ both welcoming and meditative, while the swing in drums provide dance-floor functionality and set the pace. The A side comes to a grand close with ‘Talk2Me’ a brooding acid cut that mixes in elements of breaks and aquatic synths. The track's swelling energy feeds from the A side's previous two, culminating in a build up of emotion and speed. 

‘Total Recall’ raises its hypnotic head, a series of winding synths and 4/4 kick drums creating a maze of sound, before perhaps the record's hidden gem ‘All Be Over’ arrives like an old friend. The track’s familiar sound design coupled with Maroki’s distinct personality create a warm and lasting friendship; melting together old and new perspectives. ‘Slower’ rounds off the EP, an equally stunning and fiery mix of breaks and angelic electronics.

After the success of their inaugural VA, Out of Sorts invite Vienna-based artist, Farr, back for his first solo venture on vinyl. Give Me Shelter takes a step away from Farr's usual approach to the dancefloor. A delicate melody and deliciously colourful bassline are joined by a hypnotic vocal sample and intricate synth work to create a slice of peak-time euphoria. Elsewhere on the record, his usual tools for club destruction are at play, headed up by a balearic twist to this track by Ciel. Available to pre-order now via the Out of Sorts bandcamp.

Four Tet, Lone or Aleksandir inspire Boreal who develops an intimate and magnetic musical atmosphere, between evanescent nature and synthetic frequencies.

Twin System present “Victim Of The System”, a 28-track compilation with all profits donated to Brixton Soup Kitchen. Functional heaters alongside malfunctioning oddities for a good cause.

Brixton Soup Kitchen offers support to the homeless and in need and relies heavily on donations to sustain their work. They provide invaluable relief to a community hugely impacted by the virus, as well as a homeless population forced back onto the streets since the temporary housing provided came to an end. 

As normality resumes, the chance of another wave of cases and another inadequate response from our government grows. This along with the huge number of people already suffering from the economic impact of the virus means organisations like B.S.K. are now more important than ever.

Massive thank you to all the artists who generously contributed tracks and big ups to Junior for helping bring it together.

Street lights stream across her face. Every three seconds another would pass. She is in complete darkness, but in motion. On waking, she doesn't panic - her demeanour doesn't reflect the intensity of the situation. She has no idea where she is or how she got there. In her pockets are her phone, out of battery, her keys, and a travel ticket. She looks closely at the travel ticket, squinting as she tries to catch a glimpse with each flash of light. It shows a train departure from Kings Cross, but no arrival.

For their 25th instalment Dansu Discs welcome Tom Jarmey under his new alias Ocean Stirs. Following a breakthrough 2020 under both his Tom Jarmey moniker and collaborative project, Mother Of Pearls, his debut as Ocean Stirs, ‘Through Twist and Seam’, takes you on a journey from tasteful, jungle-infused electro to half-tempo rollers and classic UK-infused vocal treats. With commanding acid licks and ominous percussion, 'Spawned in Motion' is a track that could take dancers by surprise, deviating the flow and direction of a night into darker, more interesting territory.
