So Flute emerged with an ambition to bring “a melting-pot of worldwide music that focuses on a strong, soulful undercurrent”. It’s a warm and relaxed party that steadily grown into an established destination on the city’s Friday night calendar. Adding much loved master of the mic Kwasi and local Bronswood whiz Werkha to the roster of founding members Baloo, Bolts, Danuka and Yadava, it’s certainly moved from strength to strength over the past 2 years.

Past guests comprise of Leatherette, Amir, Andres, Mr. Mendel, Floating Points, Alexander Nut and Gilles Peterson, reflecting a love for the warm, jazzy side of house and disco. A love that is also reflected in the hour long guest mix from Danuka and Yadava. The mix melds straight up disco from the likes of GQ with raw house cuts throughout (past guest Marcellus Pittman’s remix of MCDEs aptly named ‘Raw Cuts’ being of particular note). A healthy dose of afro and funk licks are of course present and there’s even a pinch of acid, with personal highlight ‘Acage’ from Luke Vibert slotting in nicely. It’s a mix that resonates with their aims, a melting pot with a soulful undercurrent, and it brings back plenty a good memory of busting dodgy dance moves under the Roadhouse disco ball.

In his own words 'this mix comprises of various bits of music that I've turned to over the years during my first waking moments. Some old, some not so old, some I have been listening to in the mornings very recently'.
