I am trying to use Vocaloid 3 for the first time and I couldn't think of an original song to try it with so I just used Aya Ueto's Oronamin C commercial theme. Hehe! :P

Ano Hito Ni Aitai (Hatsune Miku acapella cover)

This is GUMI's cover of Yoyoy Villame's Butsekik. It was a random thing. My cousin told me to do it with Vocaloid 3 so I thought "Why not?" Since GUMI has a Japanese accent I had no choice but to modify the lyrics a bit. Because of that, I also changed the title to be more Japanese. The lyrics is pretty much gibberish though! Haha! :P

I'm not much of a musician but I also tried to give it a touch of my own. Enjoy! :)

Buchiki (GUMI cover)

I just opened up and cleaned my melodica so I thought I'd record something to test it. I remembered one of the insert songs in the anime movie Anthem of the Heart (Kokoro ga Sakebitagatterunda.) called Watashi no Koe (English: My Voice) and tried to play it by memory while recording it with my new Sony Xperia Z5. :D

So Impossible Love started out as a song about unrequited love but I've never been able to finish it. Years passed and I already forgot the feeling I felt when I was writing that song but it was such a shame not to complete it so I went back to it a few weeks ago and thought I'd revise the story behind it. Instead of an unrequited love, I now made it into a song about a love that will never ever bear fruit regardless of any sacrifices - falling in love with a fictional character. Love is a lie. It's all a lie. Oh my. Haha!

The song was recorded with a phone and I'm not a particularly good singer nor guitarist so I hope you bear with it. Haha!

The cover image is Katou Megumi from the Saekano light novel as illustrated by Misaki Kurehito. She's a fictional character crush of mine, which is why I chose her face for this song. XD

And here's yet another re-arrange or remix of my most played uploads! I'm giving it a slightly new title, there's more instruments in it now with a new melody, and it's slightly longer because it now has an intro. And, just like the earlier ones, this one is available for download!

If you are wondering, this is a cover of a song titled Butsekik by Philippine singer/comedian named Yoyoy Villame. I chose to do a Vocaloid cover of this song because it has gibberish nonsense lyrics which means I can basically make GUMI sing it in any way without affecting the meaning or lack thereof.

This is probably the final version, though that may change in the future. Haha!

Buchikki  feat. GUMI (free download)

Ataraxia is a Greek term that is generally and loosely translated to "calmness" and "tranquility". It is also the title of the very first track that I uploaded here in SoundCloud almost ten years ago and it has been evolving ever since as I learn new things. It was originally inspired by a violin soundtrack in the anime Beyond the Clouds called Sayuri's Melody. My first upload used a cello soundfont, however.

I have another piano version from five years ago but this one is based on the violin solo I uploaded a year after.

Megumi Rain - Chiptune Festa

I have been working on a new piece since January but I somehow got stuck in the second part and it got shelved for a bit. Yesterday, on the day before Valentine's, I found out that my cat, Onigiri (who is under my parent's care), has passed away and my heart was utterly destroyed.

I am the type of person who usually tries to do something creative when feeling depressed so I used my welling emotions to work on the song again. I didn't actually expect to complete it but I did.

The title is Japanese for "Waves of Existence". My intention was to have the piece signify the ups and downs of life and that, even when things seem to not go as intended (the sudden pause), there is always hope as long as we're alive. I don't know if you noticed but, the very simple drum loop is inspired by the sound of a beating heart.

So yeah, this piece is dedicated to my dear Oni. He was a good boy and he did his best but it's now time for him to rest.

Goodbye, Oni. You will be missed.

生命の波 | Seimei no Nami | Waves of Existence

Although I can actually play the guitar, I probably can never be particularly great at it because of an injury I had with my left wrist. So, when I found out about a VST plugin called Ample Guitar, I just had to try it!

This is the first guitar piece I made without touching an actual guitar. I don't know if I can even play it myself even though I am the one who created it. Haha!

This song will be compiled in an album called Sazanami (さざなみ) which is also the final title of my other track called Seimei no Nami.

静けさ | Shizukesa | Serenity

I started working on this piece almost immediately after my cat Oni's passing last February 13 but I just couldn't finish it. I continued working on the last half today and I feel like the piano part is done. I'm still contemplating on adding other instruments as accompaniment. I think some subtle strings would be good although keeping it a piano solo might be a good choice, too.

永遠に別れ | Eien ni Wakare | Eternal Farewell

This is one of my current projects which I decided to call Himawari or "sunflower" in Japanese. The title was chosen because sunflowers are known to always face the sun. My message is simple: Keep looking at the light and stay positive. I think it is an important thing to keep in mind considering the times we are in right now. I feel like I am done with the piano and, given that I will probably be home a lot more because of the virus, I think I'll be able to find time to finish this soon.

I will dedicate this song to every front-liner who are risking or have already risked their lives fighting against the COVID-19 or SARS-CoV2 virus. I know and appreciate how hard it is you are working and I hope you all stay safe while you find ways to help others. My thoughts are with them and I hope that we can all work together so we can avert this crisis at the soonest time possible so that they can come back to their families and loved ones again.

I'm planning to release this in my first album called Sazanami as well as in a single by itself.

I was rather bored so I decided to make my own version of Astronomia by Tony Igy, now also known as the Coffin Song, which has been meme'd into oblivion just for the heck of it. Hahaha!

Astronomia / Coffin Dance Song (Cover)

I made the choir part last February without any idea how I will even fit it into a song. I stumbled upon it again today so I thought I'd make it into something I can use for game streaming - as background music for "Please wait" screen or the like - and added the drum loops and bassline to complete it.

The title is a Japanese inspirational phrase that means "Only when you try, you will succeed" which is how I usually try to live my life.

This is a very early draft - I'm still working on the melody - so expect it to change significantly as I work on it.

I wish I could use samples of Subaru and Ayame's voices but I have never tuned voice samples before and I don't even know if I can find them saying the lyrics I'm working on, so I used the Megpoid Sweet Vocaloid voicebank instead. I want to turn it into a full song but how I'll make the next parts still escapes me. Hahaha! 😅
