Powers Vol. 2 was born from a rekindled love for UK garage, electronic dance music and house music. Having been away from the UK for so long after high school, I found a new love for those sounds and intentionally wanted to spend time in Europe to reconnect with that energy. Most of the songs were produced while I was living in Amsterdam for 4 months in 2019, but written once I was back in the U.S as we went through the hell that was 2020. I hope you all love this experiment as much as I do. I didn’t make this to be liked by everyone, but I know those that like it, will love it, and I hope you step into this new world with an open heart and open mind.

I wrote this song over a year ago when I was worried about my future, feeling a little lost. In a twisted way, a year later, I've grown so much in my music and I work harder everyday to get better and secure a future for myself in which I can make a living from my music, but things have only gotten worse and worse around me. I feel like we're all still working towards our own individual selfish goals of being rich, being famous, or being materially successful. I wrote the second verse after watching J.Cole perform Be Free on David Letterman and observing the racially charged police brutality that has BEEN going on right before our eyes. As Cole said, the only way to make change is to all take responsibility for each other and LOVE each other, and this particularly resonated with me. The other day I searched through all my lyrics to see what I've really been talking about, and the most consistent topics: MONEY, and LOVE! There is no other way we can change the world, or at the very least be the spark that makes that change, without loving one another as we do ourselves and letting go of the security we feel money gives us! Systems built around capitalism eat us up, and narrow our vision. We are all sell outs, and we all suffer from the same drive to go get ours and chase the money! I hope that changes this year, for me, for you and for all your loved ones! I hope you find your heaven on earth!

Hailing from Lagos, Nigeria classically trained pianist and producer/rapper DAP possesses an inkling for creating incredible music. At an early age he was drawn to music through an entirely musical family. He started playing the piano aged 4 and passed his ABRSM Grade 8 Piano with distinction aged 13, and went on to attain a DipABRSM Performance Diploma on the Piano aged 17. 

After high school in London, UK, he attended the Berklee College of Music for two semesters as part of a gap year with the intention of majoring in Contemporary Writing & Production or Music Production & Engineering.

He released his fourth mixtape GoodBye For Never, in October 2014. In September 2015, he recorded at the renowned Abbey Road Studios in London with grammy award winning "Uptown Funk" producer Mark Ronson after being selected for a competition produced by Converse.

In May 2016, he graduated from Brown University with a Bachelor of Arts in Classics and Computer Music & Multimedia. On April 28th 2017, he released the “Two Roads EP”, and followed this later in the year with a series entitled Contract Thursdays (Pt. 1 and Pt. 2). During his first year as a law student at Columbia University, he released a collaborative EP entitled Old New Clothes under the moniker Hi-Lo Jack with fellow collaborators Clyde Lawrence and Cody Fitzgerald, who recently scored the Disney movie “Noelle” and included a verse from DAP. During the European leg of his ”Everybody Falls” tour, DAP released singles as part of CTIII, the third installment of the Contract Thursday’s series.

DAP released the Powers Vol. 1 EP in April 2020, shortly followed by the Deluxe version a month later, alongside graduating from Columbia Law School. He passed the NY Bar Exam in October 2020 and practiced as a corporate attorney in the Tech, Media and Telecommunications group at Proskauer Rose LLP in New York City, during which time he released the sequel to the EP, entitled Powers Vol. 2, and subsequently DAP released “PW3RS”, the third installment to the Powers series, on May 26, 2023.
