The recently published book Breaking the Silence on NGOs in Africa by the Kenya Organic Intellectuals Network is a really important text that has come out of Africa, providing thought-provoking perspectives on NGOs and their implications. Through this webinar, we have the chance to hear what remarkable African individuals like Lewis Maghanga, Gacheke Gachihi, Rodgers Okakah, Wanjira Wanjiru, and Irene Asuwa -all active participants in social justice movements - have to say about topics such as NGOs, development initiatives on the continent, white saviorism and silences within these dynamics. Only through engaging conversations with people who are impacted by NGOs and other development initiatives on a daily basis can there be a more meaningful discussion about how knowledge can translate into genuine transformation.
