Darbi talks to David Plotz (CEO Atlas Obscura) about his transition from Slate to Atlas Obscura.

David Plotz, the former editor of Slate, is host of the Political Gabfest and is also CEO of Atlas Obscura. Before joining the magazine in 1996, Plotz was a senior editor and staff writer for the Washington City Paper. Plotz has written for the New York Times Magazine, Harper's, Rolling Stone, GQ, the New Republic, and the Washington Post, among other publications. He is the author of The Genius Factory: The Curious History of the Nobel Prize Sperm Bank and, most recently, Good Book: The Bizarre, Hilarious, Disturbing, Marvelous, and Inspiring Things I Learned When I Read Every Single Word of the Bible, based on his "Blogging the Bible" series for Slate.

Episode 3:  Jamal Smith (Hillary for America, Equinox)

In this episode, Darbi reunites with her former fitness colleague, Michael Perron, now Senior Pastor at Summit Life Church in Dallas.  Michael shares his story from "Abs of Steel" to drug addiction and depression that nearly drove him to suicide to pastor and church founder.  They also discuss the place LGBTQ people in the Christian church and that got a little awkward.  Enjoy.

Darbi chats with her former boss, Rob McGovern, about his recovery from a traumatic brain injury.  They also discuss Donald Trump and how he doesn't really want to be President so we don't have to worry about him actually winning.  They were so naive.

Darbi welcomes Jamal Smith back to show to discuss what was going on in the room where the end of HRC's campaign happened.  Tears were shed but an action plan is also offered.

Coronavirus Coping Stories: Jamal Smith

A show about coping through the coronavirus crisis.  Most shows feature a conversation about how regular folks are getting through the various lockdowns happening all over the world but today's features a free sample of the walking/running/bodyweight workouts that I will soon be offering. Most of the walkout consists of simply walking or running but there are a few bodyweight exercises you might want to familiarize yourself with ahead of time if you are new to this stuff.

Air squats: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C_VtOYc6j5c  If you have trouble with your knees, you don't need to go anywhere near as low as this guy does (I don't).  Just go as low as you can.  It's all good.

Squat Jumps:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=72BSZupb-1I  Again, jumping is totally optional.  Stick to the air squat if you are new or have any joint issues.

Walking Lunge:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DlhojghkaQ0  Again, this guy goes really low (yay, him).  If that bothers your knees, shorten your stance and just go as low as you can.
