Prime Time (2010-2013) began as an assignment for the Composition Masterclass. Students were encouraged to write 16 measures for piano in an asymmetrical meter.  Upon completion of the initial assignment (written in 7/8), I was encouraged to turn it into a full piece that would serve as the first movement of an entire piano suite. And since seven is a prime number, I had the idea to write all the movements in prime number meters. Thus, the movements are in seven, three, and two and the work was named Prime Time.
