The next beautiful Soundclash sound journey comes from Electronica Massiva (UK). In the beginning it's soft, floating and spherical, later more impulsive and pushing. John Pierson aka Electronica Massiva has always been a fan of live instruments and melodic rhythms, both electronic and natural. He plays all kinds of house music, whether it be progressive, funky, latin, tech etc etc., but for the last couple of years he's been focussing on slowing things down and enjoying the music for what it is:

" I must admit this mix is very left of field, and I wasn't sure how it would be accepted. A bit of a step into the unknown as is unusual to use tracks originally produced as 105-123 and mix them into one continuous beat, yet allowing it to still sound natural. I like to be different, I like to present tracks or mixes in a way the listener wouldn't expect, to give a different feel and mood, but without taking away the essence of the original."

Forever in the quest to offer something a little different, I wanted to produce a mix tape showcasing two different interpretations of the music we love.
What is that exactly…? Be it #Storytelling, #Chill Rave, #Psy-Dub, #Deep House, #Psy-Rave… does it amount to the same thing ?
I had the idea to make a collaboration set with my good friend Tarun, back to back, as if he was in the same room - although we reside in two different continents.  The experiment would show whether this could be done coherently, and would my European interpretation work with Tarun’s Asian sound ?

I hope you enjoy the result as much as we enjoyed making the music.  Love & Peace

I grew up with the Balearic Sound and it never really left me. This type of sound reminds me of the hidden Ibiza with the hippies jamming with live hypnotic percussion, mountainous backgrounds and rolling seas. This mix showcases many different instruments and influences from around the world that I have been lucky enough to see and experience. I hope you like this story..

Thanks for finding the second mix in the series of ‘In-Too-Deep’ .  This one travels from my great friend Perry, residing somewhere in deepest Guatemala, to myself in a little studio in wonderful leafy Surrey in the UK…  then departs once again back to Guatemala.. so is a mix of three halves !

I remember back to 2016 when I first started really getting in to the downtempo scene and the wonderful community following and partaking in it, there were a bunch of DJ’s and producers that really stood out.  It was them that inadvertently guided me into the resurrection of my own DJ’ing career 😊
One of those DJ’s was Perry.  I remember hearing one of his sets and it just blowing me away.., from then on I became an avid follower listening to everything he released.., and still do.

It is such an honor for me to take part in this collaboration with Perry, in fact it feels a little surreal.. and I certainly hugely enjoyed the experience.

So.. as with the previous mix in this series,  we have attempted to create a coherent set as if we standing side by side in a venue.. although we have possibly made this one unique in that Perry has taken care of the first and third parts, with myself doing the middle section.  Again, if were to be successful in our venture – the whole thing would hopefully sound seamless !

So excited to introduce volume 3 of the In-Too-Deep series ! :):)

If you visit @fruiterama 's bio on his page you will see 'Slowly. Deeply. Smooth.'  This pretty much sums up his skills.  I was absolutely over the moon when chatting one day we came up with the idea to make a collab set.  Now this may possibly seem an every day occurance type thing, but for me, 'Fruiterama', seriously.. wants to share a set with me ?!  This is just amazing as the guy is one of my absolute idols.  I didn't want to waste the opportunity so wanted to do my best !  I hope I got somewhere near his standard with my efforts !

From Fruiterama…    This was very different from every podcast I did so far and a completely new challenge for me as an artist. Mostly because it was not just about the story that I wanted to tell, this was a duet and so I also wanted to leave space for John. I think the hardest part was to imagine what his parts would sound like and how they would fit with mine. And it might have been even easier for me than it was for him because I could record my part in one run. But I still had a lot of fun creating this very special mix and I put in as much heart and passion as I would have if I had done it on my own.

It is with great pleasure I bring to you Volume 4 of my In-Too-Deep series.  If you are not familiar with these sets, I am making mixes with my favourite DJ/Artists from around the world.

I have always been a Samaya fan and head to his sets whenever he releases a new one.  To me Steven just oozes downtempo music.. one of those dj's who just gets it.  His music is always smooth and doesn't try to hard, so seemed a natural choice for me to team up with him for this edition.

This is my slowest ever set, but with it we have looked to bring some much needed brightness to peoples lives if only for a couple of hours.

Electronica Massiva & Samaya  * In-Too-Deep *

Thank you for finding the latest in the In Too Deep series.  I wanted to drop a set that summed up what we have nearly all felt we have missed in 2020.  The ability to start a night out with a few chill tunes just to get us in the mood, maybe a couple of ‘pre drinks’… the anticipation of the night ahead… and then the night itself.  Funky Chap and I wanted to create a set that carried you through the journey of a great night out from beginning to end to remind us all that it won’t be long until we are able to get out there again and share a great time with friends and fresh tunes to match.
For this set you will find Funky Chap spinning the first hour in typical fashion from him.. an eclectic style that I struggle to find anyone else managing with such a cool and well, funky approach.  I’d say it’s very unique, and that’s what I love about him.  As head honcho of one of the best and most established channels out there with Sunset Grooves, it was a great honour to have him aboard for this trip.

So I play the second hour, and I’m going back to my roots with a peak time clubby sound that I wanted you to close your eyes and imagine you are there amongst it all, with the wonderful people, the lights, the bass, hands in the air.. ah, how we miss it !
We really appreciate you joining us and hope you enjoy this set.

From Funky Chap..   I have been a fan of John’s edits and track selection from the moment I first heard him. Therefore the moment we got together to make this in too deep mix and being in charge of starting it off, I got inspired to choose tracks that would take the dance floor on a unique musical experience. Naturally, being the founder of @sunset-grooves my track selection always varies yet has that groove that will keep driving the mix. The idea is to get the listener all warmed up so that John can take over and exhaust the listeners to a frenzy. An absolute pleasure to do this collaboration with you and share good music with those who love it.
