LINE is an audiovisual research made with Processing and Max/msp for a live perfromance  or for an auto-generated audio/visual. It has been inspired by Piet Mondrian’s works( 1872-1944). The audio part is an electroacoustic work in stereo. Each different line of the video represents different fades in or out of the sound’s takes. The idea started from the desire to investigate new types of musical notation in animated score.

Sinopsys:

The creative idea for this piece comes from the word “Plasma” that is often called the "Fourth State of Matter". Plasma is a distinct state of matter containing a significant number of electrically charged particles, a sufficient number  to affect its electrical properties and behavior. Plasma also refers to the liquid component of blood that holds the blood cells in suspension. Energy, thunder and blood inspired my composition process. I started by recording some sounds with a new percussion instrument, called “Sinori”, a thunder-sheet, that have been processed with these images in my mind.

Synopsis:

We use hashtags to express out feelings through keywords that are often expression of a world. #hash is composed by sonorities of the wind and nature soundscapes and by a reciting voice of the poem “Silent word” written by Ezio Alessio Gensini. This poem highlights nature and human relationships throught human feelings. The sound part has also an art work that represents the graphic score of the audio.

Vytra is a piece for oboe and electroacoustic. This work is about a sound line that
 evolves in different ways. All the work is composed by three main parts. After the 
introduction, in the first part, one note becomes a melody and that arrives to a
 glissando. In the second part, the arch of tension brings the public in the up register. In the third part you will find the main apex of the score with the biggest arch of tension. All the electroacoustic sounds come from oboe’s sounds and sometimes they are in contrapoint with the written score. This work is dedicated to Tiago Coimbra.

Vytra (oboe & electroacoustic)

This work is dedicated to the memory of First World War (1914-1918). In particular this project takes its cue from the 1916 abolition of Dublin Mean Time and introduction of GMT, at that time strongly opposed by Countess Markievicz. The main element of this composition is the sound of a flute that “gives voice” to  Markievicz. I recorded 25 flute sound-fragments and 12 flute rhythmic-fragments (DMT) : the sound fragments refer to the C, G, M notes that are the initials of the name of the Countess while the rhythmic sounds recall the sound of a clock. The contest of this historic event has been  created with flute sounds that has became, with an electronic interpolation, sea and ship landscapes.  Time as  a clock to measure our life in a temporal distinction of past, present and future, as an abstract intellectual concept that humans use to sequence and compare events: information about time tells us the durations of events, and when they occur, and which events happen before which others. Time as a real or unreal, as objective or relative, as tensed or tenseless. A special thaks to the flautist Mauro Baiocchi.

1916 (stereo)

Delta Time has two versions: for viola solo-fixed media and for viola solo with live electronics (MAX/MSP patch). This composition has been inspired by Delta Time as the change in time.It is the time, in seconds, since the last tick. To Update your life on the elapsed time since your life last updated.
In physic time is designed to measure. Biological time, by contrast, is indicated by an organism's various internal clocks or cyclic processes such as its heartbeats and repeated breathing and its sleep/wake cycle. Psychological time is different from both physical time and biological time. Psychological time is private time. It is also called "subjective time" and "phenomenological time". Delta Time is the real connection between the past and the future, is our "private time" .

DeltaTime (viola solo and electronics-stereo)

Sospeso- is a composition for electronic music and cello solo with the possibility of a live performance. All the electronic sounds come from the recording of cello sounds.  The soloist plays on a pre-recorded cello quartett . The quartett is on the 4 speakers (cello1-speaker1/cello2-speaker2/cello3-speaker3/cello4-speaker4) together with the elctronic part. The audience is inside the quartett and will have the soloist in the front.
Sospeso means that period when nothing is going ahead, everything stops in your life. You try to go on but nothing happens. A special thank to Mattia Pacilli  (cellist)

Piano Inside- is a composition for electronic music and piano with the possibility of a live performance. All the electronic sounds come from the recording of keyes, plastic glass used or thrown inside the piano chords and beats on the piano wood: everything comes from the “piano inside”. This is also the first meaning of the title. The second meaning is about the poetic of this piece: with “piano” I mean the musical therm of it and with “inside” I mean the man’s soul. All the man’s stresses comes from a bad way to comunicate. The psychological attacks that we suffer everyday by other persons, media, wars, distruction of nature, are they rights? Do the man’s neurosis come from that? The piano sound in it is the man soul taht is deep, alive and need love and kindness. Is possible to divide it in three different part: the first one is generated by an “electronic-attack” sound and it’s a sort of introduction with a question: should I defend? It continue with different answers. The second part is about what really amn wants: kindness. The third part is the hate that man feel against attacks but he’s confused and he closes with the same question of the beginning.

PIANO INSIDE (piano solo and electronics-stereo)

This piece has been inspired by Aristotle's doctrine of the four basic kinds of explanatory reason or four causes and by Schopenhauer's definition of necessary connection that arise within the context of seeking explanations1. A connection is never alone but it's in relation between two or more things. Nowadays, we're all connected through internet but are we in relation to each other? The formal structure of “Connection” is composed by an introduction and four different parts with different arches of tension. The various sections have peculiar charaterizations and they have expressive elements that oscillates between one note and its half tone. A special thank to Guido Arbonelli(performer).
