Born and raised in Southern California, he found his passion for DJ’ing at age 15, and has been committed since. As a recording engineer student at the University of California Los Angeles, he evolved as an artist with a taste for creative exploration. Agent 818 is credited with a broad range of projects, ranging from sound design to scoring for film. His ventures have proved him to be dynamic as a diverse artist. Behind his drive is an ongoing passion for stepping behind the decks. “To me, spinning can be as creative as producing & remixing, DJ’ing is part of what draws me into making music” he says. Agent 818 cites Armand Van Helden, Ben Watt, DJ Quik, Dr. Dre, Steely Dan & The Cure as some of his biggest influences. Whats happenin' funky people!  Hope you are all well!  We are back with Volume 145 of Soul Room Sessions, and for this episode we head all the way to Russia as we welcome the the super talented I GEMIN to SRS!

Mike Popov became interested in electronic music in the 90's and soon became a DJ at his school and then city parties. In the mid-2000s he created the project Allovers with his brother Ilya. The project makes centered on  soulful and deep house music.

In 2014 Mike added some elements of disco and sampling into his house tracks to make them sound more diverse and delightful. These musical experiments resulted in the new dance project – I Gemin.

He has released music on labels such as Tropical Disco, Hive, Moiss, and Gents and Dandy's to name a few.  This dude is on FIRE and we are thrilled to feature him on SRS!

Laurent Sparks, currently based in Mulhouse, France. Laurent started mixing Techno back in '97 but over the years has moved into more organic house sounds. Between 2000/03, Laurent and a few like minded friends opened Vinyl Vital Records in France to this day he continues to share good music with the world by running his own podcast series called Little Routine.

Since the launch of Little Routine in 2014 it has gained an admirable réputation for Dj's, promoters and general fans of  house music.

Laurent has also featured and been involved with some great musical movements such as House Salad Music, Reason2Funk, Soul Room Sessions, Krome Boulevard, Colours of House and many more!

Playing other peoples music for other peoples enjoyment since 1993.

Darius is a self proclaimed "House Addict".  He fell in love with the house sound as a teenager living in Montreal back in the early '90s when he would stay up late on Friday nights and record a dance mix show on Montreal radio.  He was hooked from then on.  He then proceeded to start mixing with one tape deck and a CD player and never looked back.  

When he moved to Vancouver in the late '90's, he started buying records almost daily and spent most of his free time at his favourite record stores at the time, Bassix and Mekanix records.  Over the next few years, Darius held various residencies and ran 2 club nights in Vancouver, playing alongside such talent as Lawnchair Generals and Johnny Fiasco, as well as playing at numerous after hours and raves.   After getting tired of both the late nights and politics in the scene, he decided it was time to hang up the headphones in the early 2000s, but the love of house music still burned inside of him as the years passed. 

In 2013 he decided he wanted to get back into DJ'ing and purchased a basic Pioneer controller and started to collect digital tracks again.  Over the past few years Darius has been busy making a name for himself in the underground scene with numerous guest mix appearances around the world on such labels as House Salad, Reason2Funk, Uglyhouse, Little Routine, Selecta Music, Leven Underground and House Jet Radio just to name a few.  He also started the very popular "SPEED BUMPS" mix series which showcases his love for hip hop and jazz as he shows his versatility as a DJ by blending mixes of nu jazz, hip hop instrumentals and acid jazz flavours reminiscent of Mark Farina's legendary series, Mushroom Jazz. 

He also launched the hugely successful "Soul Room Sessions" podcast showcasing the soulful and jazzy side of house music and downtempo beats with guest mixes from some of the biggest names in the game and the series is still going strong!

In 2017 Darius got his first taste of out of town gigging playing live shows all over the West Coast from his hometown in Vancouver, to San Francisco and Oakland.  Stay tuned for much more from him in the near future!
