Merry christmas and happy happy new year!!! 2020!!!!!!!!!!

2019 has been a fantastic year at SRS!  We saw the series surpass the 100 volume mark, as well as featured our first live house music non-dj act from San Francisco, Slope114.  We at SRS are so proud to be able to share the best in underground house and downtempo for your listening enjoyment and to take your mind away from everyday life!  

As we enter 2020, we are super excited to announce a new side project of monthly free download tracks of house and jazzy downtempo vibes.  We have approached some of our amazing producer friends around the globe to be part of this project, and the support we have gotten is overwhelming!  

As today is Christmas, what better time is there to release our first in our free download series!

For SRSTRX01, we are so excited to present a super talented up and coming producer from our home town of Vancouver Canada, Jay Evers aka J. Fenix.  

His track U In The Mix, is a deep, jazzy groover that is sure to fit in all DJ sets as well satisfy the casual listener.

Playing other peoples music for other peoples enjoyment since 1993.

Darius is a self proclaimed "House Addict".  He fell in love with the house sound as a teenager living in Montreal back in the early '90s when he would stay up late on Friday nights and record a dance mix show on Montreal radio.  He was hooked from then on.  He then proceeded to start mixing with one tape deck and a CD player and never looked back.  

When he moved to Vancouver in the late '90's, he started buying records almost daily and spent most of his free time at his favourite record stores at the time, Bassix and Mekanix records.  Over the next few years, Darius held various residencies and ran 2 club nights in Vancouver, playing alongside such talent as Lawnchair Generals and Johnny Fiasco, as well as playing at numerous after hours and raves.   After getting tired of both the late nights and politics in the scene, he decided it was time to hang up the headphones in the early 2000s, but the love of house music still burned inside of him as the years passed. 

In 2013 he decided he wanted to get back into DJ'ing and purchased a basic Pioneer controller and started to collect digital tracks again.  Over the past few years Darius has been busy making a name for himself in the underground scene with numerous guest mix appearances around the world on such labels as House Salad, Reason2Funk, Uglyhouse, Little Routine, Selecta Music, Leven Underground and House Jet Radio just to name a few.  He also started the very popular "SPEED BUMPS" mix series which showcases his love for hip hop and jazz as he shows his versatility as a DJ by blending mixes of nu jazz, hip hop instrumentals and acid jazz flavours reminiscent of Mark Farina's legendary series, Mushroom Jazz. 

He also launched the hugely successful "Soul Room Sessions" podcast showcasing the soulful and jazzy side of house music and downtempo beats with guest mixes from some of the biggest names in the game and the series is still going strong!

In 2017 Darius got his first taste of out of town gigging playing live shows all over the West Coast from his hometown in Vancouver, to San Francisco and Oakland.  Stay tuned for much more from him in the near future!
