On March 2020 the world was abruptly thrown into collective disarray. The pandemic stopped almost everything dead in its tracks. No social gatherings, self-isolation, a sense of panic and bewilderment prevailed. An industry that had become so dependent on human connection and unity, was suddenly switched off and put on pause for an unforeseeable future.

It was in this climate that The Louder Than Chaos project was born, facilitated by Soma Records’ head honchos and Techno protagonists Slam. A collaborative project with friends, colleagues and contemporaries normally only seen at airports, or events, now brought together under a completely different set of circumstances, allowing for a purposeful connection in a time of disconnect. The focus of the project is built on a powerful mutual participation, remotely constructed over time and fully intended for holding court on peak time dance floors when they inevitably return. That time has now finally come.

The Louder Than Chaos project is a series of 5 releases, on 12 vinyl” & Digital, to be released monthly via Soma Records. Featuring collaborations between Slam & Hector Oaks, Slam & 999999999, Slam & Keith Tucker (AKA Optic Nerve), Slam & Amelie Lens, Slam & Rebekah, Slam & AnD and finally Slam & Perc.

Each EP features specially commissioned artwork from German based artist PPP Panic, which consolidates into one constructive piece over the 5 releases.

Opening Volume 1, Slam pair with Italian rave starters 999999999 for Conveyor. Arguably one of the hardest tracks in the project, both artists combine to unleash a furious and twisted acid techno stomper. Madrid born, vinyl enthusiast Hector Oaks is next up, joining Slam on a proper, attitude filled techno excursion with Pathfinder; its heady melodic elements mask a driving and potent track. Detroit originator Optic Nerve helps Slam to close out the EP with the Motor City electronics of Machine Conflict. Early Slam influence mixes perfectly with the Detroit native’s unique electro sound.

El 101º podcast de nuestra serie nos llega de mano italiana, en forma de vinilo y protagonizado por un artista que sincera su amor hacia este. ¡El 101º podcast lo firma Anphonik.

Anphonik es un apasionado del vinilo quien empezó a coleccionar estos a la temprana edad de 16 años. Durante algunos años vivió en Berlín, desarrollando su carrera como artista y consiguiendo una cautivadora técnica en la mezcla a tres pistas, haciendo de sus famosos sets a tres platos algo identificativo, característico y especial. Influenciado por el gran por Jeff Mills, Anphonik seduce las pistas de baile a través de sonidos “old-school”, armas de percusión y veloces cortes.

En el pasado mes de junio, el productor italiano dio luz verde a su propio sello @ancientgear.rec, siendo en julio cuando realizó su debut en este con su “The Down Of Tomorrow” EP compuesto por cuatro pistas.

Anphonik llega a nuestras filas navegando entre estilos y regalándonos un viaje que pasa por los ritmos rotos del electro, los sonidos pegadizos del house y un groove “old-school” como marca de identidad.

@Anphonik is a DJ known for his highly technical style, specializing in vinyl-only sets using three turntables. His approach to DJing is deeply rooted in the old-school craft of vinyl mixing, drawing inspiration from techno legends like Jeff Mills. Anphonik began collecting records as a teenager and has since developed a precise, relentless mixing style that blends various forms of techno and house music. He is also the founder of Ancient Gear Recordings, through which he released his debut EP, The Dawn of Tomorrow, in 2023.

A few weeks ago, I almost passed out in the stairway.
Suddenly, my vision became blurry, and my field of vision narrowed. 
I felt sick, so I just sat down on the stairs. 
My hearing was muffled, like it was coming through a bucket. 
I wanted to cry so badly, but I knew that wasn't an option.

Perc - Spring Mix 2025

Having consistently played the most illustrious, largest clubs and festivals right across the world, in January Perc took the challenge of taking his diverse sound to The DBA, an old school, traditional British pub turned underground rave space over on Cheetham Hill Road in Manchester, with a 3 hour closing of The Lounge.

This was what happened, with a few words from Ali himself:

"The January event was my first time playing at The DBA in Manchester, but I had heard from a few DJ friends that it was a mad place to play.


My plan was to start with quite a house party / afterparty type of vibe (like the DJ Sandy track at 35 mins) and then see where the crowd wanted to go from there. 


The start of the set is filled with a lot of layering. Riffs and vocals like the DJ Funk (RIP) cuts at 11 mins layered over drum loops from other tracks. This seemed to keep the energy level building and then I could slowly bring the bigger riffs and hooks and some harder acid tracks as the set got a little tougher and faster.


After that it was just a case of seeing how far I could take the crowd and how far they would take me. I remember a lot of cheers, people charging forwards when certain tracks dropped and some attempts to dance on tables." - PERC
