"I saw the best minds of my generation destroyed by madness" (Allen Ginsberg, Howl), a sampled quote that lends as inspiration for Carbon’s newest EP “Madness”, and his strong return to Shadow Wulf Records. 

The EP features two exceptional techno tracks that drive the listener willingly into insanity with gripping arp melodies and dark driving bass, and gives a welcome peek into the master creative mind of Carbon (aka Riewert Peterson) – whose music has been featured on heavyweight labels like Senso Sounds, Alula Tunes, Jannowitz, MoonBootique, Phobos, Soupherb and many more.  

With “Madness” featuring vocal segments of  the poem ‘Howl’, the vocals are spoken by an ethereal female voice musing on the nature of insanity, and “Ridiculous” enhancing the subject matter further with unencumbered cackling laughter – both tracks lend to an inspired concept paired with relentless dark groove and techno energy. 

To top it off, The EP features the dark techno lord himself, Maksim Dark, marking this his second release on Shadow Wulf.  He provides a riveting remix of the title track in his signature minimal style and artfully crafted to enhance the hysteria to dizzying heights. 

It’s not a stretch to say that if this is Carbon's world of Madness, we'd gladly stay here forever and welcome insanity.

Making a welcome return to Kaluki this month is longstanding label favourite, De La Swing, with his hard-hitting ‘Club Del Sol’ EP. The Elrow head honcho has been making waves in the Tech House scene with releases on Circus, Mother, Lapsus and Material as well as playing out at DJ residencies across the globe alongside renowned sold-out Elrow parties. Kicking off the EP is lead track ‘Club Del Sol’ which takes you straight to the club with intricate drums, bouncy b-lines and playful percussion that will be sure to get the dancefloor marching. ‘Bang G’ follows as the slightly darker b-side offering up hypnotic looped vocals, atmospheric synths and an undulating low-end groove. Ben Sterling rounds off the EP with his remix of the lead track adding vivacious percussion fused with a deep, rolling b-line and rhythmic drums and snares.

De Detroit à Genève, il n’y a qu’un pas. C’est en tout cas ce que le producteur et DJ Dark.D défend depuis qu’il a débuté sa carrière derrière les platines des soirées techno en Suisse et dans le reste de l’Europe en 1997.
Inspiré par Dave Clark, Trentemøller ou encore deadmau5, Dark.D joue sur les contrastes entre son inspiration tirée de la scène house de Detroit et une volonté forte de ne pas se cantonner à un seul style, de casser les barrières des genres musicaux. Le producteur n'hésite d'ailleurs pas à se tourner vers la deep house, la tech house ou éléctro music sur son dernier album I Wanna Dance.
Écumant les scènes aux quatre coins de l’Europe, Dark.D allie un sens de la mélodie et des rythmiques aiguisé à une formidable capacité à donner envie de danser de toutes ses forces. Ses morceaux “I Don’t Feel Like Playing”, “Feel My Touch”  sortis en 2023 & “Over and Over” en sont de très bons exemples et actent une flagrante montée en puissance.
Avec déjà 3 albums et plus de 20 titres originaux, lui ayant permis de développer une audience fidèle et croissante, Dark.D est loin d’avoir terminé sa mission d’importer le son de Detroit en Europe, et tout porte à croire que l’énergie contagieuse de ses productions va continuer de se propager avec vigueur dans les années à venir.
