For Zander Hay - better known as @theburrellconnection - music has always been as much about people as it is about sound. His new EP for @craigie-knowes, 'I Waste My Time So You Don’t Have To', arrives as the label marks its 10th anniversary, a milestone that means more to him than most. Not only has Zander released music with the Glasgow-born imprint, he’s also been quietly running their PR from behind the scenes since the early days, helping to tell their story to the world.

That dual role makes this release feel like a full-circle moment. The EP gathers together material shaped in the club, in the bedroom, and most importantly, in the company of friends. Lead cut “E Before I” has already been heard echoing through Berlin basements, including in a live version taken from Zander’s performance at Tresor, invited by LNS and DJ Sotofett. The B-side heads deeper, pairing the dubbed-out force of “Celestial” with the warm, widescreen pads of “Ensemble” - tracks that carry what he half-jokingly calls his “signature sound,” something he’s been chiselling away at for over a decade.

Zander speaks candidly about the title of the record, pointing to the endless hours spent in pursuit of something original. He’s unflinching in his criticism of DJs hiding IDs or passing off other people’s tracks as their own - a reminder that, for him, credit and community go hand in hand. “Music is not a luxury, it’s an essential,” he insists, and it’s clear that ethos drives not just his own practice, but also the way he moves through the scene.

That scene has taken him from Glasgow, where he cut his teeth at La Cheetah Club and soaked up records at Rubadub, to Berlin, where he now co-runs Slurp of the Antics with Valcat - a party deliberately centred on live performance in a city often saturated with DJ culture. Between the drizzle-soaked after-hours of Scotland and the intensity of Berlin’s underground, he has carved out a practice that feels both grounded and exploratory, rooted in place yet open to evolution.

At the heart of it all is Craigie Knowes. For Zander, the label’s story is bound up with his own - from being pushed creatively by deadlines and honest feedback, to finding genuine friendship with Max, Mitch and the wider CK family. “Friendship!” he says without hesitation when asked about the most rewarding part of his journey so far. That word runs like a thread through his reflections: from teenage trips to Sub Club on borrowed IDs, to afterhour residencies, to the countless connections made through music over the years.

As he sets up a new studio, offers tuition, and continues to develop his live shows, Zander isn’t slowing down. 'I Waste My Time So You Don’t Have To' is more than a title; it’s a snapshot of where he’s at right now - committed, outspoken, and still finding joy in the graft. For him, the story of Craigie Knowes at 10 isn’t just about a label’s legacy, but about the friendships that make the music possible.

Founded in April 2024, Australian imprint DU:RA has quickly mapped out its sound through a series of digital outings, drawing on strands of deep techno, house and bass-driven electronics. The label now marks a new chapter with its first vinyl release, delivered by fellow co-founder n-trip.

The four-track EP highlights n-trip’s approach to sound design and atmosphere, moving fluidly between submerged textures, heavyweight rhythms and raw machine energy. MML' is built around a pounding bass drum and flickering glacial synths, maintaining a taut tension across its runtime.

Echo Libero presents the remastered first release on vinyl and digital edition of the self-titled CD by the group E.A.T. from 1997.

Consisting of the musicians Helmut Zerlett (Dunkelziffer,
Phantom Band), Reiner Linke (Dunkelziffer) and Boris Perlonski.
The music is characterised by a combination of club-oriented elements, abstract percussion, and subtle electronic references. This amalgamation of sonic elements can be considered a logical consequence of the legendary and experimental Stollwerk years in Cologne during the 1980s.

Upon initial listening, the sound is characterised by a pronounced electronic quality, yet it is simultaneously imbued with a profound depth that is evident in every composition. This depth serves as a testament to the impact of the prolific years spent at Stollwerk, where the creative process was particularly fruitful. Rhythms are characterised by their inherent capacity for fluidity, continuously alternating between varying tempi. The aural backdrop of electronic machines is a constant presence, its soundscapes metamorphosed and driven forward by the percussive elements of Reiner Linke's composition. This is arguably a pivotal aspect of the musical oeuvre of E.A.T., characterised by a creative openness that was evident in all of them from a young age and that is exemplified in the self-titled release. Departing from the prevailing electronic music of the era, the trio demonstrated their mastery of a distinctive auditory aesthetic that was both pioneering and resonant in the contemporary context.

Without a doubt one of the most original voices of Belgrade nightlife, Edin (@edinoma) hails from the first row of the city's insatiable dance floors. Now a regular at both famed @karmakoma-club-beograd and Eastern European underground cathedral @drugstorebeograd, Edin has been throwing parties since elementary school and it shows.

While in parallel being Drugstore/Karmakoma online omnivoice - Edin has been shaping his idiosyncratic expression all around, and since 2013, through venues like KC Grad, Dim, and 20/44, he played alongside Rabih Beaini, I-F, Legowelt, Intergalactic Gary, CJ Bolland, Pan Daijing, towLie, Les Yeux Orange, Benji DF, Albion, Red Axes, WC7, Elena Colombi, Soyoon, and many others.

Since 2018, Edin’s effort took the form of PUTNIK (trans. “Traveller” or “Voyager”) party series, while his phone calls from the Bardo have been broadcasted by platforms like Intergalactic FM, @mutantradio, @whypeopledance, and @commedeslarmes.

Machine Cult — the Amsterdam-based electronic platform run by Déandrah and Garçon Taupe — returns with the Edition Four release party at OT301 on 7 November.

The new V.A. compilation features tracks from Garçon Taupe, Bertram, 2:29, Beau Wanzer, Déandrah, and Masha Wordpress. At the launch, all contributing artists will play DJ sets, with Déandrah providing live visuals throughout the night.

Expect an evening of potent electronics and immersive visuals, celebrating the forefront of the underground.

"While exploring new production techniques using old and unlikely hardware, the results were so unusual that I really had the sense that these pieces of equipment didn't actually create these sounds, rather they were in fact some kind of elaborate reception device that allowed me to tune into transmissions from Distant Galaxies. The music I could hear was actually the received transmissions of Pop Hits from those Distant Galaxies that were being played on their radio stations.
I quickly recorded all that I could before losing the transmission.

I consulted with Dr Andrew Read, the astrophysicist with whom I recorded Guitar Treatments in 1999. He has worked on the discovery of the most distant galaxies and astronomical objects in the Universe. Together we came up with a possible list of where these musical transmissions may have come from."

Cititrax is excited to present the second in a series of four song samplers showcasing the talents of some of the most innovative producers of the moment. Cititrax: Tracks Volume Two features the fearless and ultra-talented Chinese producer Tzusing, the raw avant-garde electronics of London based producer L/F/D/M, creative West Coast powerhouse Silent Servant, and prolific underground French producer Maelstrom. The overall sound can be described as modern, uncompromising and guttural. Each artist reinvents dance music by bringing their own unique vision to the floor.

Diseño Corbusier is the avant-garde electronics duo of Javier G. Marín and Ani Zinc, formed in Granada, Spain 1981. Like Sheffield’s relation to London during the punk explosion in the UK, Granada developed an experimental music scene 400 kilometers south of Madrid. As a child, there were no records in Ani’s house, so she grew up listening to the radio and was hypnotized after hearing ‘Remember Love’, by Yoko Ono. While attending university in Granada she responded to an ad in a music magazine by Javier, “If you’re into bands like Cabaret Voltaire or Flying Lizards, call me”.

The duo recorded their debut album “Stadia” in 1982 and self-released as a limited edition cassette on their label Auxilio de Cientos. They drew influences from contemporaries like SPK, Throbbing Gristle, Esplendor Geométrico and DAF. They employed the ’cut-up' technique William Burroughs used to write his books to splicing their magnetic tape loops. Instruments used included a Korg Lambda, Boss DR-55 drum machine, Roland SH 101, and MFB 501 drum machine. The lack of money to buy more expensive instruments forced the duo to be more creative. Everything was recorded directly to a cassette player that was plugged into a Revox B77 reel to reel tape machine to add echo. Ani manipulated and treated her naive, menacing vocals to match Javier’s processed rhythms. These early sketches contain atonal, arhythmic, thick shifting curtains of synth, loops and radio samples. For this reissue we’ve added 7 bonus tracks taken from various cassette compilations, as well as three previously unreleased songs. Elements of industrial music, primitivistic techno and vocal manipulation are fused with a Dadaist approach utilizing modern technology.

All songs were remastered for vinyl by George Horn at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley. The front cover is an exact replica of the band's original design, restored by Eloise Leigh. Each copy includes a 4 page xeroxed booklet with photos, press clippings and liner notes from Javier. “Powerful and evocative, soundtrack music for a rising storm or revolt.” Sound of Pig magazine 1985
