Pleasers (INTRO TECHNO)

'Dominik Marz and brothers Radial Gaze team up for this four-track outing on TAU. Both acts have been steadily building their reputations on the underground, maintaining a high level of consistency and captivating dance floors across the planet. The trio have already worked together, dropping ‘Trans’ on Mexican label Duro in 2021. Now they’re back with a full EP, demonstrating the full force of their alliance.
The EP starts with ‘Baren’, where we find a low end percolating alongside crispy beats, with an array of percussive additions to increase the momentum. The bass pumps and vocal clips dip in and out of the background as the trio add more layers. It’s a heady combination of well pro- grammed beats with synth and bassline arrangement.

Then we have ‘Asper’, a dense punchy cut with a simple, hypnotic melody. This cut really benefits from its simplicity, an unfussy foundation which supports a colourful main riff.

Next is ‘Mistral’, a percussion-heavy composition that features an earworm melody, trundling drums, and a warped vocal. This one is a proper dance floor stomper.

Lastly, ‘E-Functions’ is a driving cut with a mysterious aura. The trio keep this one engaging throughout with plenty of progression around the core motifs. It’s ominous yet bouncy and playful, striking the balance perfectly and closing out the EP in style.'

Speicher 125 is a most auspicious collaboration between two great, inimitable voices in techno: Kompakt co-founder Michael Mayer, and Magazine’s own Barnt. They’ve both been productive of late, Mayer with his “Brainwave Technology” EP in 2021, Barnt with his first release on Kompakt, "ProMetal Fan Decor Only Product" in 2022. Of course, they’re also busy with their respective record labels, and international DJing schedules.

You may already have heard their first track, which appeared on Michael’s "&" album from 2014, the psychedelic “Und Da Stehen Fremde Menschen”. For Speicher, though, they set their sights firmly on the peak time dance floor – the result is two stunning cuts of techno euphoria. 

On “Teller” Barnt and Mayer unleash a synth storm, tense and thrilling. Percussion piles up against the incessant buzz, but before too long we’re submerged in waves of dense texturology, making the track an object lesson in tension and release. “Duration” is a bittersweet anthem about "life long love". A moving voice tells us about "faith in life" while gleaming, synths, choral swarms and snares shower down from above to form an epic tale about duration and devotion.

Weirding the groove and updating the emotions, Speicher 125 is a monster.

Monday Ghosts steps out of the Techno-world. It is as much a cinematic story as it is a sonic journey. It's a lucid dream of vivid and emotive acoustics playing into an intricately woven tale that changes with every listening experience.

Acid Pauli BLD Remixes A 

Acid Pauli’s second album 'BLD' dropped earlier this year to a rapturous reception. Martin Gretschmann’s trippy opus took in various stops around the musical spectrum, yet remained committed to quality dancefloor tracks that refuse to follow any particular rule book.

This collection of remixes of the album's A side (hence the name) only adds to that achievement - bringing yet more new flavours and takes from some of the most exciting names in the underground.

'Abbebe' gets a rework from Sainte Vie who brings his trademark ‘multicultural electro’ sound to the album's opener, and produces an ecstatic mid-paced groover for the heads.

Oceanvs Orientalis drops a similarly exciting rerub, finding new angles and dimensions to the track 'Baris'.

Tel Aviv’s Red Axes turn up the psychedelica for the duo’s amazing dissection of 'Ayam' - deep sounds immersed in acidic tones and tight-yet- wonky arrangements.

Lastly 'Majid' gets the treatment from label co- head Nico Stojan who produces a sleek and spacy remix that will delight the early morning ravers.

1st June 2018 sees Croatia's esteemed DJ/producer Petar Dundov return to Belgium's iconic Music Man Records with his brand new Dalmatina / Once We Were Here EP. 

The essential 2-track offering sees the sophisticated melodic Techno pioneer deliver one of his finest EPs in recent times, following his acclaimed fifth LP At The Turn of Equilibrium (released on the aforementioned label in 2016) and more recent releases on imprints such as GTO Recordings, Last Night On Earth, MOOD and Systematic Recordings amongst others.

The EP's lead track 'Dalmatina' kicks things off, taking the listener on a 9-minute melodic trance-esque journey that boasts a sublime evolving arrangement encompassing, a solid four-to-the-floor rhythm, intriguing percussive elements and a distinctive arpeggiated synth melody that takes centre stage.
