Met zijn terugkeer in het vooruitzicht doken we de archieven in. En daar vonden we goud: zijn set op Herfstdrift 2014. Marcel Dettmann leverde een set af die in ons collectieve geheugen gegrift staat. Een moment dat de tent deed kolken – en elf jaar later met jullie gedeeld mag worden.

For our 12th mix in our series, we revisit Nao's sublime sunrise from our November party with the Rural Festival crew. The festival has been flying the flag for deep, trippy techno in Japan for 17 years, so we knew they'd be a great fit for a Rio takeover. 

Nao stepped up after a phenomenal, hypnotic peak time set from Atsushi Maeda. Over three hours, she guided the boisterous dance floor through her full colour palette of techno, from raw and percussive to trancey and sublime, with plenty of left turns to keep dancers on their toes. Nao brought out her psychedelic side to full effect, and we couldn't have been happier that she decided to do so. 

We've been eager to share this set for a while; turn it up and lock in for the whole ride.

Estroe has been on the forefront of the Dutch electronic music scene for over a decade and a half. She has played her emotion ridden sound all over the world and releases records on prolific imprints such as Connaisseur, Bedrock, Get Physical as well as her own EevoNext label. We are happy she has joined the Balans ranks with this beautiful and yet uptempo mix. Enjoy!

As always we asked her a few questions:

01.What is you relationship with Balans?
Darko and I go way back, both being dj's in the Dutch dj-scene for a long time. And I did a remix on Darko's label Wolfskuil.

02.What do you do to try and stay in balance? Any tips & secrets you would like to share with us night folks?
I like to make long walks with my dog, I try not to party too hard and I do yoga once or twice a week. Enough to keep me balanced :-)

03.About the podcast, can you tell us the story behind the mix?
I had to play at the 15th anniversary of Awakenings and bought a found a lot of good new techno tracks. So I made a few preparation mixes to listen back so I would know the music by heart. This mix is a reflection of what I played at the party, but mixed at home so slightly different too.

04.What gear did you use to make the Balans podcast?
2 CDJS 1000MK3's, A Pioneer 800 mixer and my good old H4N recorder

05.What do you have in store for us (gigs/releases) the coming months?
I have remixes just released this week on Perspectives Digital, Cinematique and EevoNext and a full release coming up on Proton Music next week. Keep an eye on my website for my discography and gigsdates:
