Prologue:
Voodoo is alive and well in the world today both among the disenchanted and downtrodden as well as the educated elite. This volume sets out recent thinking on Voodoo, paying particular attention to variations in meanings and practices. It examines the way different people in different contexts are making sense of what voodoo is and what it might mean. The rhythms of Voodoo employ techniques completely unique to the style. The technique is employed as an embellishment on congas and is often referred to as a “Moose Call”. While the tone is very tricky to learn, it is even harder to do in the rapid succession which is required for some rhythms. Some Voodoo patterns stray quite far from the main rhythm, some create a counter pulse to it and others still remain fairly rooted.

[en] In this EP, Hinky Punk makes a sonic illustration of an invasion on the dance floor. The sound floods the environment, filling the floor with danceable and engaging grooves that cannot be ignored. The sequence of tracks tells the story of a mental dive, which starts from a more classic line of psytrance and leads to a more obscure and introspective line of Dark.

Over the last year, the artist has worked on the tracks in order to position them among his biggest references in the scene. He sought to match the level of quality and sound pressure found in his favorite Forest lines, adding his vision of "trip" through the Hinky Punk and Forest & Dark identities.

Based in São Paulo (Brasil), Balanar started listening to electronic music since very young and his passion only increases since then. Mixing all his electronic experiencies, he found his way into dark psychedelic trance.

Balanar project consists in organic sounds, marked grooves, striking basslines mixed with dark and melodic atmospheres promoting an immersive psychedelic experience through his sound.
