Sweeping over a landscape of grey-brown sand, the wind evoked a mournful song. Its notes emanated from the forms of the titanic metal figures that stood crumbling throughout this desert of ruin, reverberating within the long cold barrels of the weapons and amidst the hollowed shells of the defeated that had been bored through by the projectiles that those weapons once expelled. Their hulking chassis dwarfed the dwellings that lay worn down surrounding them, the concrete skeleton of a once great metropolis that was now dissolving into the sand. If once there had been humanoid bones here they had long since been buried, watched over silently by the mechanoid guardians that had long ago brought about their violent ends.

Yet even in this most desolate of ruins there still lingered the faint spark of life. After millennia of devastation, the ground had begun to bear forth isolated pockets of green as rain ran down from upon the guardian machines that loomed silently above. In some places too this rain slipped inside of the behemoths, and within the heart of one did a single drop provide the momentary circuit connection necessary for its latent energies to spring to life. With a thunderous roar, the mech’s core began to spin, glowing red hot as it ground centuries of dust into nothingness with the friction of its centrifugal power supply. Its rusted carapace groaned under tensile strain as it hefted itself from its knees, supported by the grip of its weapon as a rudimentary crutch. Now upon its feet, the grand machine withdrew from the sand the barrel of its namesake firearm, hefting its massive six-round cylinder into the air as it checked the status of the ammunition it had held now for time immemorial. Finding purchase within were a pair of mammoth five-hundred-millimeter cartridges, which the mech snapped into the firing chamber as it scanned the surrounding area for targets. Woe be to any who dare to set foot within its domain, for the REVOLVER autonomous weapons system was now back online.

METANOIA make their EATBRAIN debut with REVOLVER, the first EP from a project which sees the return of EATBRAIN alumni Smooth working in concert with his latest collaborator & fellow producer Wooga. Much time had passed since the uprising of the demon kings had sprung forth from the ancient obelisk, bringing ruin to the great city that had been built around it. Yet more had passed since humanity had lost their homeworld to these malevolent creatures, who poured out from the monument with no other desire than to torture, pillage, and destroy. For years, all-out war had raged on the Earth’s surface and yet for all of humanity’s most valiant efforts, the killing of one demon had begotten only the rising of two more. In their final hour, those scant few who survived had fled to the stars, abandoning the wreckage of their beloved home. It was there that they maintained an uneasy existence above it, one tied to the sanctuary of a handful of meager orbital stations scattered amidst their solar system.

It was from these stations that they now watched in horror as a great celestial body rapidly entered their domain, its surface scarred by gargantuan visages of suffering and despair that protruded from its surface. As it neared the abandoned remains of their homeworld, the gravity well of the hellish sphere sucked its shattered pieces almost instantaneously inward as though feeding the horrific faces that marred its ochre hide. Though sound permeated not through the vacuum of space, the minds of all those who watched were split by a psychic scream of pleasure that emanated forth from the planet as though it were a living being. Then, as though sated by the life it had consumed, it began to drift back beyond the bounds of their solar system, completing the cycle of DIVERGENCE once more.

The battle between Dragon Slayer and Stregoi was one of epic proportions. The clash of steel against scales, and the roars of the dragon echoed throughout the land. For days on end, they fought tirelessly, the odds tipping back and forth. The lives of both human and dragon hung by a thread as they pushed their bodies to the absolute limit.

Finally, with a final surge of strength, Dragon Slayer delivered the decisive blow. Stregoi’s mighty form crashed down onto a rock near the city, lifeless at last. The dragon slayer had emerged victorious, but victory came at a great cost.
