Episode 439 brings an awesome mix from one half of the Distant Planet Rave Crew, Hughesee!

Hughesee warms up the mix with amen & atmospheric tune! The mix then smashes into a mad footwork tune, hardcore, and cools down with a minimal, dubby, stepper! Hughesee then moves into an atmospheric tune and a funked out amen smasher! There is a transition into a couple laid back jungle rollers, a hardcore track, and some razor sharp amen biz! The outro is a sublime hardcore tune! Exquisite selection with masterful mixing! Damn! What a mix!

I am a DJ Who has been spinning records since some time around 1992 being into electronic music from a very early age and have been buying records since 1990. I have always enjoyed trading records and searching out rare and obscure vinyl.

Simon and Louise host Distant Planet events together in London on a regular basis which consist of warehouse all night parties at The Venue M.O.T in South Bermondsey and also run daytime family friendly events at the Fox & Firkin in Deptford and the Royal Sovereign pub in Hackney.

Distant Planet also captures video sets from their nights which are available to watch on their Youtube channel and also host live streams showcasing the best of the Distant Planet DJ’s. Recently during the lockdown they have been representing Distant Planet by taking part in live streams from Venue MOT and The Fold London as well as their own streams which have great lineups with many of their Distant Planet regular DJs.

For south coast based Jungle/Drum & Bass artist Reddeye it has been a slow rise. After turning his back on the scene over a decade ago it wasn’t until the post apocalyptic haze of constant quarantine & lockdown that he decided to renew his vows and continue his love affair with the beats & breaks that he was missing.

With a particular love for all things jungle, Reddeye forgot nothing of his talents & was quickly offered residencies with some of the biggest hitters on the scene, including Rough Tempo, Goat Shed & Bloc2Bloc.

As a member of The Unit, and now restrictions have returned to something resembling normality, Reddeye has begun to showcase his talents to live audiences across the U.K., supporting pioneers of the scene such as Nicky Blackmarket, Micky Finn, Grooverider & DJ Hype as well as running sets with the likes of Ragga Twins & Fearless and performing on some of the biggest stages in the U.K. including iconic raves such as Jungle Mania.

Now hosting a regular monthly show on the South Coast’s biggest multi genre dance music radio station, CodeSouth FM, Reddeye presents the Sunday primetime D&B/Jungle Show and selects the best and most up to date in Nu Jungle.

We´ve been following Lee Croucher aka Sync Dynamix from the very start when
he started building Good 2 Go DMR in 2019. The label is now going from
strength to strength with releases by Blame, DJ Sappo, Dan Silk, InnerCore,
Renegade HZ, Ruff Jam, Juic-E, Lavery, Code Of Silence, Arkyn and many other
talented artists and nearly 20 releases deep. We are very proud to now bring
you his very first solo EP and the first outing outside of his own label.

The opener ' Is This Reality?' opens with tippsy arps,atmospheric pads, 808 subs
and a distinctive hit vocal. The steppy beats soon make way for crashing amens
and there´s no stopping from there really. The track progresses into a signature
melancholic second break of 'no scientific reality', but best hear for yourself.

3 months ago I repaid Domz the favour of having me on his last Kool FM show and got him down to guest on my Thames Delta show. 

It was a sad couple of days around that time with the passing of MC Fats and Jason Kaye and before I got news of the latter I wanted to do a tribute mix of some Fat's tunes and that's how the show starts before Domz and myself go through the gears.

"I’m a raver first, and a DJ/producer second. I’m really inspired by FFF, Tim Reaper, Stretch, Flight, Mantra, Sweetpea to name a few, as well as many others from the ragga jungle scene. I started raving for fun back in ’19, and fell in love with the scene and felt lost without raves during lockdown where my love for the music I’d heard during childhood was reignited. When raves were back, I fell more and more in love with the music and felt like being a raver just wasn’t enough, so I tried my hand at DJing to see if I was any good. It took a lot of perseverance to get to where I’m at now because I wasn’t that good to begin with - I was more a selecta, but it’s 100% worth it because now I’ve got the skill and the selec, and have had the most amazing opportunities so far such as playing with Flight, Sherelle, Ama etc at fabric, to playing with Tim Reaper, Decibella, Dwarde at Village Underground. This is just the beginning."

Thundering Mantis - Amenology Tribute Mix

Since being introduced to Hardcore/Jungle by a family member back in 1993 I was hooked by the fast tempo, samples, basslines and Mc’s that would ride over a tune. Notable radio stations I would listen to were Kool, Don, Scandal, Pulse, Dream, Transmission 1, Eruption, Flex and Ruud. It’s great to see some of these still going or come back. 

Listening to the DJ's on these stations as well as Hype (for his scratching ability and selection) inspired me to try my hand at mixing and after going through several inferior decks I finally got hold of two 1210's that made all the difference to home in on the craft and I never looked back since. I still have them to this day and would consider them family. 

From 2004 I took a hiatus from D&B and sold off all my records but since 2015 there has been a resurgence of the scene that I have got totally addicted to again just like the first time so the vinyl collection has steadily built once more. 

With the improved capability of live streaming I began playing on www.onlyoldskoolradio.com and www.futuredrumz.com in 2018 which then led me to joining Jungletrain in 2019 then onto Dream FM and now most recently, Thames Delta Radio for a monthly show.  

I have made playlists of my shows from each of the stations mentioned above along with any studio mixes I have done to listen back on.
