I wrote this one the night my parents were visiting from out of town. We were sitting on my couch, and when my mom asked how I’d been, everything inside me just broke. She pulled me in as I cried, and I remember laughing through the tears, apologizing because I was getting snot all over her sleeve. She just said, “It’s okay, honey… just breathe.”

That moment became this song — my mother’s sleeve catching pieces of me. It’s about the mercy of being seen when you’re falling apart, and the kind of love that doesn’t try to fix you, only holds you until you can catch your breath again.
