Let’s imagine that during the intro theme there is a scene playing where a villain and some of his minions are robbing a bank. These characters are using lots of sophisticated technology to break their way through security systems and ultimately reach their final destination of stealing something very valuable. That’s when the hero arrives and a fight ensues during which the villains escape and the movie officially begins.

Matthies Darrin Anticipation 1

Darrin Matthies has been writing and recording music for the past 25 years as a solo artist as well as the original bass player for The Giftmachine (he is still a contributing member on occasion). 

Darrin first picked up a guitar at age 6 after being given an old beat up acoustic that once belonged to his dad. This began a lifetime of music, from brass in the school band, to a tenor in the choir (and some musical theatre to boot!)

Darrin joined with his brother Dave (Yukon Stove, Trespassers-W) to play as the Giftmachine following his time in Ellensburg. 

The next three years would be quite a ride for Darrin. From their first West Coast tour to sitting in the Green Room of the Tonight Show starring Jay Leno, or a personal after hours tour of the Capital Records building. The “rock band” era saw the release of two full length albums, including Sooner or Later, or Not (2000, knw-yr-own) and Don't Turn Me Off (2002, knw-yr-own). 

Following his time with the Giftmachine, Darrin has continued to write and record his own music with a solo, self-titled album (2004). He also participated in multiple compilations including: Remote Wing (2001), Trust in Sirens (2004), and Flotsum and Jetsam (2005). 

Though still writing songs, lately Darrin has been focused on the composer part of his brain.  He currently is releasing and performing under the name BIGLAKE  littlemountain.
