Aussie DJ and producer DJ Life has been a name on everyone’s lips since surfacing as one of progressive dance music’s most exciting emergers. Stellar releases have come on Dansu Discs and Echocentric Records, with remixes from fellow prog-trance-techno influencers Adam Pits and Rudolf C, cementing his place at the top of the long-blend rise. 

Now, debuting on Distant Horizons, DJ Life produces four typically entrancing cuts of hypnotic, stylish and straight-up fun dance music with its crosshairs fixated firmly on those dark, sweaty, underground nights.

‘Gnagnag’ gets the warm-up underway with its playful M1 chords and punchy kicks; a marching-on-the-spot number that was born to get silly to. ‘Zweop’ takes the tempo up a notch as we swap the waft for a heads-down aesthetic; a heady-blend of tech-house (the good kind) and prog creating a peak-time cruiser.

‘Behemoth’ presses pause on the trippy 4x4 in favour of wobbly basslines and breaks - much in the vein of the excellent Casa Voyager crew - electro feels and glowing atmospherics taking you on a 6-minute trip driving down the desert highway, before ‘Acidophilus’ sees us out with? You guessed it. A hefty dose of synthy acid to guide you into the wee hours.

Una narrativa que trasciende la pista
Lo que distingue a “Aspirando Almas” no es solo su potencia en la cabina, sino la narrativa que lo acompaña. Su videoclip, realizado en animación, funciona como una metáfora visual de la historia de la humanidad: desde la creación del universo y el surgimiento de la vida, pasando por tribus y civilizaciones que encontraron en el tambor su primer lenguaje rítmico, hasta la efervescencia de los festivales electrónicos contemporáneos.
El clímax llega cuando Santos y DDD aparecen como viajeros interestelares que aterrizan en una nave espacial, trayendo consigo un sonido que conecta el pulso tribal del pasado con la visión futurista del underground. Es un relato audiovisual que reafirma lo que el track ya grita por sí mismo: la música es
un lenguaje universal que trasciende eras, geografías y culturas.

Tom Jarmey releases his debut album for Lobster Theremin sub-label Distant Horizons (formally known as Distant Hawaii) with the beautifully serene ‘Amber Glass’ LP.

On Amber Glass, Jarmey draws on influences from ambient, house, breakbeat and techno, combining dusty drum sequences on top of cosmic synth patterns and classic, warm, tape-driven production. 
It’s a rare treat in the post-rave, home-listening dance spectrum and showcases a knack for brooding, laid-back grooves as well as a killer melody and rhythm. Chock full of breaks,bubbling electronica, deep diving tones and emotional textures, the album is a glimpse into the work of a rising producer, but one who nonetheless sounds comfortably in their prime.
Jarmey seamlessly blends breathtaking soundscapes, luscious vocals and soaring synth hooks on this debut long play following releases for 13th Hour, Shadow City and R.A.N.D. 

The LP sets the tone for future excursions on Lobster from the versatile Manchester-based producer.
Long-time musical collaborator and saxophonist, Ed Hodge, joins Jarmey for a clutch of tracksonthis project, with Hodge performing sax on both ‘Bees In Meadow’ and ‘Deeper Pacific’.

Anonymous producer Kilig (@kiligsounds) debuts on Scuffed Recordings with the ‘Dream Logic’ EP, fusing together elements of UK-influenced techno, minimal, ambient and industrial.

The ‘Dream Logic’ EP is the latest in a string of releases from London’s Kilig, who has turned heads of late with DJ support from the likes of Ben UFO, Call Super, Saoirse, and Midland, and radio plays on BBC Radio 1, 6 Music, and the Introducing Hot List.
