Das Sind Wir steps up to the plate with a smooth and funky second release – this time featuring Death On the Balcony. Heavenly vocals scrape the sky, while laced throughout are consistently, and somewhat aquatic-sounding, bass lines and fat bending synths on each tune.

The melodic keys and bouncing bass on Good Things Are Gonna Come give a solid nod to those bright moments in acid house. It rounds out the warm and deep release with a soulful burst of optimism we seek to find out on the dance floor.

DSWR005 arrives via California native Patrick Gil. Based in San Francisco, Patrick Gil brings a lush & groovy EP to the Das Sind Wir catalog, showcasing a background in psychedelic rock and jazz that inspires his modern electronic productions. The EP fits perfectly in the Das Sind Wir progression towards deep and heady realms.


An expanding sonic haze holds the keys to after hours bliss with this spaced-out offering. Floating pads and soulful reminisces groove with a thundering kick. Hypnosis boogies between vocals and bass, putting the dance floor on a smooth simmer.

We couldn't be more excited to share this recording from Eddie C from the last Das Sind Wir Showcase, hosted by Underground Souls in Santa Barbara. It was a treat to have our good friend bless a bit of California's coastal paradise with some damn fine tunes. The party went down on the terrace at EOS Lounge, and the dance floor was shoulder to shoulder from start to finish. Eddie did what he does best, and spread that love through his choice selections. 

We hope you enjoy the latest Das Sind Wir Mixtape as much as we do!

Tone of Arc arrives on Das Sind Wir with an inflection of musicality via two original tracks tinged with indie electronica influence and a remix by San Francisco’s Cole Odin. Creativity blossoms within productions oriented towards dance yet equally at home with audiences demanding a stirring sonic journey. There’s no wonder Tone of Arc’s past releases have earned acclaim for originality and genre-breaking production; this EP is no different.

“Felt the Curve” begins distantly as electro-tinged percussion joins fray, beholden to the haunting vocals. The array of sounds merges into marching techno. An aesthetic of smoky subterranean caverns beckons dancers to take an inward journey while never sacrificing the forward-moving groove.

Tone of Arc - Felt The Curve (preview)- [DSWR006]

A variety of music coming from Das Sind Wir's Cole Odin! It was recorded at our friend Evita's weekly morning party, After Dawn, this was the kick off from 6-8am, with label head Trev Campbell joining friend of the fam, Bob V (as the duo known as "These Guys") rocking it after... It showcases a lot of what Cole is known for- moving it around through vibes, genres and tempos, while not leaving you feeling lurched. With his own original material and remixes on the DSW label mixed in with others by such names as Boogie Corporation, Cornelius, Solar, The Mole, Markus Gibb, Still Going, Pezzner, Subway, Fat Freddy's Drop, Psychemagik and more, it's a rockin', funkin' original experience... Hop on!

Das Sind Wir Mixtape 005 - Cole Odin

The 8th release from San Francisco (and beyond)'s Das Sind Wir label offers music befitting the mystique of a 7th son. The first vinyl release from San Francisco musician, DJ, artist, and promoter Cole Odin (who also goes by the moniker Ownership), "Dawn's Approaching" is dance music that aims to be regarded as a SONG rather than a track. With 4 takes on the tune (rolling through a gamut of vibes), there's something in the stocking for everyone.

It opens with the original mix- a mid-tempo, psyche-rock-tinged exercise in deep balearica. The percussive-layered, kick-driven beat ebbs and flows, but never drops out, while droning synths reminiscent of the psychedelic rock band Spiritualized weave around a dubby bass line. Adding to said bliss, Cole's ethereal vocals gurgle in and out at the start and close, bookending his main vocal which posits ideas of taking the high road in the name of better discourse. The production is understated, adding to the druggy haze that the performance and song-writing instills. Frankly, it's a beautiful tune.

The 2nd slot is Cole's Shhhh Dub mix. In this one, the emphasis is on the vibes, where the main vocal drops out, opting for the bass line to climb from shotgun to driver's seat. The drones still drone. The ebbs still flow. And the ghostly crooning as the lone human voice keeps the song safely tethered in smokey atmospheres.

Psychemagik needs no introduction, and they transform the track into a stunningly gorgeous dance-floor destroyer. Starting with a filtered beat, we eventually get to hear the falsetto backing vocals brought to the front, which with its raw realness, comes across as heartfelt and charming. When the first break in the action comes, we're introduced to a new melodic patch that will remind seasoned listeners of the Underworld classic "Rez" (an intentioned homage, says Tom of Psychemagik). After that percolates to a climax, the groove slams back in with a simple bass throb hitting hard. At this point heads nod in opposition to hips, and the rocker goes full fucking tilt. When the final drop out occurs and Cole's command to "Fall in line, reunite!" comes crashing in with triumph, hands will be raised, and feet will be stomped.

Rounding it out is a ying to the yang. SF-based DJ/producer/promoter CJ Larsen teams with DSW label head Trev Campbell for a more straight ahead house take on the tune. For this remix, the tempo gets kicked up a bit and CJ & Trev offer a funky new bass line to accompany the chords, swirls, and ethereal vocals from the original, in this bouncing, spacey closer to the 8th dip in the pool from DSW.
