The Sustain Series project continues with its second volume, 24 recycled forms created from old and unused material. Since the release of Volume 1 in November last year, more artists have come together to salvage, repurpose, restore and deconstruct each other’s pieces, or collaborate on a particular idea. What results is a growing variety of approaches and outputs, from minor embellishments to full disfigurement.

Volume 2 moves thematically, as if in four chapters, from the expressive openers, through enchanting natural-sounding pieces, before opening up to more ethereal expanses, and finally darker and more thoughtful ones. As it does, visions emerge of our natural world - its power, its beauty and its vulnerability.

Sea of Clouds is honored to welcome Off Land aka Tim Dwyer to the label roster. Even though we've just recently discovered him, through his excellent "Slow Waves" album released on Chilean heavyweight imprint No Problema Tapes, Tim is a rather prolific musician, active for more than 10 years. Honing his musical skills and shaping his musical vision, Off Land has released over 25 materials to date, exploring ambient, meditation music, drone and more. 

You might call "Out World" an EP, but through its 5 songs, Tim Dwyer's latest material is an absolute trip, crafting an entire virtual world through uplifting synth pads, pulsing drones, intricate textures and various field recordings, resulting in a very peaceful and introspective listen full of wondrous moments. Truly, this is what our label is all about and we are thankful to help release this gem of an album. 

Accompanying this release is a limited run of 20 handmade audio CD-R, complete with various physical goodies.

The output of Japanese drone mainstay Hakobune could best be described as both heartwarming and sombre at the same time. "If It Were To Fade" follows this tradition and captures the sensation of being lost deep inside an endless distance of the great between.

Over the past year, a selection of artists have been digging through the depths of their creative pursuits, for material they either cannot finish, or else would like to see adapted. These same artists and more have delved into the resulting repertoire, and emerged with new, repurposed pieces.

Out of this births the first volume of the Sustain Series: a means for artists to make use of old sounds, hoping to bring forward music that might have otherwise not seen the light of day. Thanks to the input from a variety of fantastic musicians, old material can breathe new life, sometimes in more than one form.
