“La Bien Aimée” est une rencontre avec ces parts d’ombres en soi, de honte, de traumas, qui n’ont pas eu d’espace pour exister, pour être pleinement vus et reconnus.

Mais c’est surtout une rencontre avec la compassion et cette force d'amour immense que nous portons au plus profond de nous qui peux tout embrasser, apaiser et réunir. 

C'est cette Lumière intérieure qui se révèle au fur et à mesure que nous pouvons offrir l'espace et accueillir ce qui n'a pas pu l'être. 

C'est un morceau à reçevoir comme une méditation, un voyage intérieur, et une rencontre avec ce qui en vous demande encore à être pleinement aimé.

Where Did It All Go Wrong

After the success of Ego, the first single from his rock album Prison Of Modesty, Martin Kuiper now releases its follow-up, Time. "Time is a catchy rock track with a surprising intro and an infectious chorus. The perfect antidote to winter," Kuiper laughs.

Then, on a more serious note. "It's a song about how time can get in your way when you're pursuing your dreams. I felt that strongly at the end of high school and during my student years", says Kuiper.

In Time, he tries to capture the feeling of the acceleration your life takes when you leave home and go to university. "I was 17 when I started studying Physics in Groningen. But I didn't really know why I chose this. And it subconsciously weighed on me. Choosing a study or a job felt very absolute back then."

In the video for Time Kuiper alternates unique footage from the past with scenes of driving and racing on a road. "You see me as a 17-year-old long-haired boy, going out into the world and, with fits and starts, transforming into a well-groomed man, ready to go to work," Kuiper laughs. "The crashing cars represent a difficult period I went through at the end of my studies, when the time pressure was just too much."

Time is the second track on the rock album Prison Of Modesty. "I love rock music, and Prison Of Modesty is a dream come true. The album will be released in June."

I've made and produced probably about 100 songs. This album is comprised of my top 14 favorites. These aren't all necessarily my most recent songs—but they are the best, effectively making this my life's work. Scuffed Kicks is a journey in an attempt to uncover truth. It has tales of great triumph and great tragedy. But most of all, Scuffed Kicks is real. Real pain, real promise, real hope. I've been making music for a while now, and needless to say, I fucking love it. But when I write music, I'm not writing for fame, I'm not writing for fortune (though I would definitely love it!); I'm writing for music. I make the music I hear in the world. I tell the stories of the people I've met and share their experiences. I use music to help me find meaning and, hopefully, help others along the way.
