Lipphead is a production duo consisting of veteran producers Blockhead (Ninjatune, Future Archive Recordings) and Eliot Lipp (Alpha Pup) creating playful instrumental hip hop creations that traverse wide musical territories.

Lipphead’s sound is an infectious blend of atmospheric downtempo and driving electro funk.

Releasing via Michigan label Young Heavy Souls, the duo has crafted a truly individual sonic aesthetic that benefits from the significant wealth of musical talent and experience they both bring to the project.

Illustrated by artist Maddison Chaffer, the titular Lipphead character serves as the group’s mascot and as a tongue-in-cheek personification of the duo’s fused styles.

On the production of the album Blockhead explained “I would say, with this album in general, it was both of us taking things we were working on that we liked but couldn’t find a home for. For us this was a very “there are no rules” type venture. We allowed ourselves to be silly and unconventional with all these songs.”

Eliot Lipp went on to say “My favorite thing about the record is the audio cocktail that comes together when our two styles are blended. It’s refreshing to make music with such a loose process. We found ourselves focusing on our strengths, and trusting that our individual styles would complement each other.”

On their debut LP, Lipphead dances effortlessly between Blockhead’s journeying hip-hop beats, and Eliot Lipp’s synth-laden electronic swing. "In The Nude" is available digitally, as well as on vinyl, CD, and cassette.

Corymorpha is a genus of hydrozoans that resemble flowers. They typically feature a central stalk topped by a hydranth with tentacles and a mouth. Some species of corymorpha thrive in deep water and live in colonies, forming ‘abyssal flower meadows’. 

This track samples heart-filling commentary from a Nautilus Live reel (https://www.instagram.com/nautiluslive/). That said, it didn’t start as an ode to corymorpha; rather, a friend’s reaction to its early sound design sent it down an ocean current, and here we are 🦀🪼!

In the spirit of getting stuff out there and not have it exist solely on my desktop for eternity, here is the deep-sea flower for your streaming pleasure. At some point I intend to get help with the mix and release it properly. Until then, if you’d like the WAV just ask, and thanks for listening.

4/6/2010. Sorry about the fade in & out halfway through, the place was packed so the soundman had to tell the crowd where the emergency exits were, like we were inna plane instead of a theatre. Maybe the seat cushions could be used as floating devices in the case of a water "landing".

🙅‍♀Hugo Gélin a décidé d'intégrer un univers de science-fiction à l'intérieur de son film tout d'abord pour s'amuser avec l'attente du spectateur mais aussi parce qu'il s'agit du monde dans lequel évolue le personnage principal

🙅‍♂François Civil a obtenu le Prix d'interprétation masculine au Festival de l'Alpe d'Huez 2019 pour Mon inconnue.
