La llegada de inmigrantes europeos al Río de La Plata durante el siglo XIX y durante la primera mitad del XX, especialmente españoles e italianos, trajo consigo ideas anarquistas que se arraigaron en el movimiento obrero Uruguayo y Argentino.

En 1931, Miguel Arcángel Roscigna, líder anarquista destacado en la Argentina, junto a los italianos Severino Di Giovanni (periodista,poeta y obrero) y Gino Gatti (el ingeniero) y su gente. Lideran los primeros asaltos anarquistas, era para ellos una forma de atacar al capitalismo en su raíz, además se dedicaron a hacer “justicia por mano propia” contra los jefes policiales identificados como torturadores de anarquistas y obreros sindicalizados.

Mientras Severino era fusilado en Bs As, Roscigna planeaba liberar a compañeros detenidos en la cárcel de Punta Carretas.
Los fondos recogidos de asaltos anteriores, facilitaron las cosas. Permitió que Gino Gatti se instalara en una casa comprada por el grupo frente a la cárcel, instalando la carbonería ¨El Buen Trato¨ desde donde comienza la construcción de uno de los túneles de fuga más perfectos, con ventilación y luz eléctrica a lo largo de su recorrido de 50 metros hacia la cárcel de Punta Carretas.

Poco tiempo del primer mundial de futbol de 1930 y un Uruguay Campeón. La fuga, concretada el 18 de marzo de 1931, permitió que los prisioneros salieran sin problemas y fueran recogidos por vehículos en un garaje cercano.

Sin embargo, la seguridad pronto rastreó a los anarquistas por un error accidental de un agente, resultando en la detención de Roscigna y su grupo por 53 policías. Eventualmente, fueron condenados y encarcelados en Montevideo hasta 1936, desapareciendo posteriormente en circunstancias nebulosas.

Pasados varios meses de la desaparición, un oficial se sincera con la Comisión Pro Presos y les dice con tono confidencial: “No se rompan más muchachos: a Roscigna, Vázquez Paredes y Malvicini les aplicaron la ley Bazán, los fondearon en el Río de la Plata”.

4 décadas después este túnel fue reutilizado por los presos Tupamaros haciendo así una de las más grandes fugas de la historia, donde se dieron a la libertad 118 presos, pero eso sera parte de otra historia…

Hands up, who knows what the term ‘nefelibata’ means? No, we didn’t know either but were quickly smitten with its meaning. Translating from Portuguese as “cloud walker” and meaning “one who lives in the clouds of their own imagination, or one who does not obey by the conventions of society, literature, or art” we certainly understand why it has been chosen as the title for Audiojack’s dreamy new EP for L.A funsters Culprit.

Having first appeared on our radar during the summer in the sets of label bosses Droog, the cut was something we knew that we needed to have on the site. Fast forward a few months (we’ve been counting down the days) and here were are, delighted to be able to present to you French house veteran Franck Roger’s stunning rework of ‘nefelibata’ in all it’s retrofitted glory.

Set for release alongside the original and another storming remix from fast rising Italian producer Whitesquare December 7th, we’re certain this will be a package you hear plenty of this winter season.
