Started out with organ with some oscillating dissonance chords to build tension.  Then I switch into a minimalist bell/piano arpeggiation for a while, which slowly builds into trance, and then into some more heavy dub trance.  There's a melody lead with a phase pad throughout the entire song, and I also added some heavier bells that do some fifth step ups and octave steps as a regular theme.  I fade out with what sounds like a dulcimer.  This is all TEOP1 Field keyboard though as usual, no analog instruments.  Some reverb added in audacity, -14dB normalization, -1dB soft limit. Sunday, whether you are finishing your night out at an After After Pary or just chilling in the afternoon with a nice glass of vino, normally you are looking for a more chilled out mix to accompany those times.  We thought it would be good idea to ask our favourites DJs to dig a bit further in to their record boxes and go a bit more eclectic than their normal Saturday night tunes and  start a brand new Chilled Transmission Series. So this is start of that new series, we asked British producer, DJ and engineer Billy Kenny to step up to be number 1.  His hit track "Work" has reigned the bass heavy side of festivals ever since it's release in August 2014 and continues to do so while more recent releases on Dirtybird, Sweat It Out and his co-run imprint "This Ain't Bristol" circulate the globe. 

We also going to ask each DJ to give us a little intro the mix and the thought behind it, this is what Billy had to say:  "I’ve wanted the opportunity to show people what i’m listening to in my downtime for a while now. Although my productions don’t speak the word “chill” too often, it’s rare i won’t listen to a few from this playlist whilst winding down.

Some are long time favourites of mine, others i’ve discovered more recently and fallen in love with. In particular, the first and last tracks were part of my childhood and i’ve come to appreciate them so much more as i’ve gotten older. My girlfriend introduced me to Elderbrook not so long ago and i instantly became attached to his stuff, he’s a genius at both producing and singing. I was on a rooftop in Johannesburg earlier this year watching the sun go down, and although it wasn’t the first time i’d heard the Lovebirds’ “Want You In My Soul”, i always think of that moment.

Big up everyone in this list, you often make my day better and i hope it does the same for anyone listening."

Thus, we thought it was about time we started soundtracking this most underrated of times to ask our favourites DJs to dig through their record boxes and serve up something a little different for our brand new Chilled Transmission series. 

After kicking it off last week with the superb mix from Billy Kenny, ﻿next up is Kemback from Bristolian party institution Alfresco Disco, who celebrated their tenth birthday a few months back.  Here's how he describes the mix  "For a while now I’ve been meaning to put together a mixtape of songs that I’ve sampled over the years, and here it is. The collection is certainly eclectic, but all of the tracks represent a musical moment in time for me. This mix could be the soundtrack for a lazy afternoon by the fire, but I like to think it might perhaps work just as well in an altogether more psychedelic setting... Either way, enjoy."

After last weeks more funk infused mix from Kemback, next up is Homeboy. Born in 2006 Homeboy started taking over Marko Pelaic's musical personality allowing him to focus on contagiously playful, danceable music. Honestly, Homeboy was always around: he's been following and nourishing Marko's musical growth through diverse projects and genres, giving him time and space to notice that his true calling was in absorbing all the basics house music had to offer and adopting it to his personal style. Homeboy owns that style now, though he lets Marko experiment with his sound. Homeboys style has been recognized by Speak Recordings, Hypercolour, Burek and is now, thanks to Marko and his two co-founding friends, giving his musical imprint to the House Is OK label.

Here's what he says about the mix "The mix was recorded at Masters Club in Zagreb during daytime. The club has a constant electronic program over the weekend, but it works during the week as a chill out place. There were a couple of peeps on the terrace, drinking coffee, smoking weed, while I was putting together this selection of cosmic shit for them to enjoy their rest. And that is exactly what it should be about while listening to this mixtape. It is made for a short moment of meditation, to forget everything for a while and trip away in the sound. I hope the readers will enjoy it.“

After last weeks more funk infused mix from Homeboy, fun loving German duo Satin Jackets serve up set of selections designed primarily to make you feel, well human again. We'll freely admit the cold weather and the fact it's still not quite Christmas yet had begun to take its toll on us here at DT towers but luckily Tim B and Den Ishu were on hand to cure our chronic case of SAD with an hour long mix of super sexy, infectious house music that's pure summertime.

"Every mix takes us a few months to find the right music. We pour my heart and soul into it and I hope to be able to take the listener on a little journey" the boys explain. "It doesn’t really matter where to as long as you can close your eyes and let it take you places."

The lushpods have become a sort of sonic diary for me over the years.  The past two weeks I have experienced the loss of two amazing people in my lives.  Two lives that were influential in my development as a DJ.  Inspired by the Elliott Smith track, I wanted to honor both of these beings in a 3 hour audio meditation.  Thank you Erin and Nicholas.
