As Berlin based producer Ninetoes makes his Saved debut with ‘Paapaa / Jiving’ there is a distinct feeling that a new raw and untapped talent has now been unearthed. With only a handful of releases to his name, the German has displayed an immense talent for filling his music with depth, flair and personality. It is that eccentricity, which is clear to see throughout his two track EP for Saved, combined with genuine talent behind the mixing desk that announces this diamond of a discovery.

‘Paapaa’ is a groovy, techno strut that has plenty of swing. Based around a deep bassline, tumbling, almost tribal drums and incessant vocals, the track swings and swirls as it evolves subtly. It is the well-timed gearshifts that inject the tune with purpose though, throwing the rhythms into wild and intoxicating disarray.

‘Jiving’ has an even wilder aesthetic, settling into a warm, balmy and exotic atmosphere. The bottom end is fully loaded and locked into a groove that swells from underneath. A curious breakdown that strips things down to just the vocal and indigenous drums is shattered when the total force of the track is unleashed once and for all. It’s an all-encompassing assault that sweeps everything in its way along with it. It’s a pleasure to be caught up in the mayhem.

This time out they look to Mirco Caruso for two tight new tech cuts that will set any floor alight. They mark his debut on the label and hopefully the start of a fine relationship. The first is Next Guest, a robust and upright house groove with bobbling bass, tin pot precision and aloof, distant vocals bleeding into the mix. It’s a cool, breezy cut that makes you sway your hips. Then comes the more driven Let Me Go, which is a tense, edge of your seat ride through the cosmos with twinkling keys, tough synths and shooting pads all forming a bed off which dreamy, whispered vocals leap. It’s infectious, attention grabbing stuff that will make sure dancers sweat from start to finish. These are two crisp tracks that really get under your skin and want to make you move. The next release on Roush comes from London-based production duo YINGYANG (UK) & Ren Phillips. 2018 has been a big year for them, releasing on labels such as Criminal Hype, Cr2, NoExcuse Records & Lost Audio; they add Roushlabel to that list with a big two-track package of dancefloor heat with their 'Cult Fiction' EP. Kicking off the release is 'Get Down Bizzy', setting the tone with an upbeat and sturdy attitude from the outset. A rumbling bassline and strong kicks throw you headfirst into the groove, accompanied by high-energy rhythm and a catchy vocal hook. Quirky samples, massive buildups and hammer blow drops make this a no-nonsense tech weapon; hold on to your hat! The second and final track in the release 'Cult Fiction' exhibits plenty more of their signature style. Robust and rolling groove with some offbeat percussion, hints of melody and more addictive vocal chops keep you engaged (no doubt with your head bouncing along throughout).
