For this weeks podcast we decided to massively up the tempo from last weeks stunningly relaxed effort with a detour into the fast paced terrain of drum and bass and naturally turned to DC Breaks to provide this weeks exclusive podcast. 

For those of you less than familiar with the D&B pioneers it all started when Andy C’s seminal imprint Ram Records signed several tracks to Frequency Recordings back in 2005. This steady stream of releases helped cement the act's profile as both supreme DJs and future leaders of drum and bass and saw them storm the scene over the coming years, unleashing their anthemic basslines on dancefloors from London to LA, bringing big hype to the scene with remixes for major international artists  and labels such as Universal, Sony, Island, Parlophone, EMI and Ministry of Sound.

Far from studio hermits DC Breaks have spent years crafting their unique live performance in clubs and festivals around the world, DJing across 6 decks and two mixers, and as a result  have forged  a reputation as one of the most exciting acts in Drum & Bass for their willingness to break boundaries. So with this in mind and a fresh release entitled Gambino/Burning ft Camden Cox set to drop on Ram Records on November 18th, a remix for Loadstar on the horizon and a series of upcoming dates in Oxford and Bologna before returning to the capital for Ram’s Xmas bash on December 12th we thought the time was right to welcome them to the DT podcast to deliver the energy of one of their sets to all our fans not quite lucky enough to catch them in the flesh over the coming months!

Ed West, also well known as the drummer from the highly respected band The Drop, on this occasion takes control of the buttons and hits us with a classic slice of UK dancehall that has been mashing up dances across the country. With 2 different cuts of equally high pedigree from 2 of the most exciting UK talents, Parly B and Jago, each with its own heavy weight dub version from UK legend Manasseh plus murderous Jungle remixes from J-Man and FLeCK this release is a sure fire anthem for 2014. .LIGHTER!

Parly B:  What a year it has been for this man. Having established his reputation with the Skints, Parly has gone on to take 2013 by storm establishing himself as the most saught after MC on the UK dancehall scene with recent hits on Mungo’s Hi Fi’s Scotch Bonnet and Reggae Roast amoung many others. His track ‘Dem a Fight’ on this release is arguably his biggest and baddest to date and sets a message of intent for 2014. Jago came to fame as the front man of dub/reggae outfit Onlyjoe and brings his rugged, energetic style to the release with great effect. Jago’s cut, entitled Ilani, is a tribute to his first daughter who has been a continual source of  inspiration to him. He is currently putting the finishing touches on his debut album, entitled ‘Jago And Friends’ which is set to be released in early 2014 and is set to make big waves in the UK Reggae scene and beyond.

J-man delivers an absolute killer of a Jungle remix that is sure to excite Europe's vast sea of Jungle fanatics. Fast becoming one of the most talked about up and coming producers on the UK underground rave circuit, Bristol's dub plate munching badman has been taking the scene by storm with his trademark style of party flexed Ragga-Jungle. Having just signed to Run Tingz Records and with his debut album soon to drop, things are heating up for this exciting talent.

FLeCK: Next up we have FLeCK ,an electronic music producer extraordinaire hailing from Athens, Greece, who hits us with a down tempo 140 BPM Jungle reworking. RUFF an TUFF this is a hard hitting alternative to the original and brings brand new flavour to the release. Having made big waves in the electronic music scene since the 90s, FLeCK’s music has found its way into the record boxes of the likes Public Enemy’s DJ Lord, Rusko and many others as well featuring on Diplo’s Mad Decent blog and massive radio support.

Reggae Roast is building a formidable catalogue featuring some of the most exciting artists in the UK and beyond. Key players in the resurgence of the UK Roots scene over the past 5 years, they are a leading light in the new generation of dub music. 2013 was big but 2014 is set to be even bigger.

Miami season is almost upon us and we're geared up and ready to go! Our latest preparations involve getting rather hot and bothered about RAM Records' forthcoming Miami compilation, RAMiami Drum & Bass 2015.

The album features 28 original tracks from all the RAM regulars, including Audio, Delta Heavy, Calyx & Teebee, DC Breaks, Frankee, Loadstar, Rene LaVice and June Miller. Also featuring on the compilation is our podcast contributor today Hamilton who has brought the heat with his effort for the album ‘Hands In The Air’.

His devastating work in the studio aside, he’s also more than a bit handy in the DJ booth as anyone who has borne witness to one of his full throttle three deck shows will surely testify. So without further ado may we introduce you to the sounds of the one and only Hamilton! Big!

A Sides and Makoto are no strangers to the music industry. A Sides has been making music since the early 90s and had put records out on labels as diverse as Metalheadz, Valve, True Playaz and Hospital, whilst Makoto – a true legend in Japan, who has even turned his hand to acting -  has had tunes featured on games such as Gran Turismo 5 and superb bike sim Tourist Trophy as well as putting out introspective, jazzy bangers for the likes of LTJ Bukum’s Good Looking Records and Hospital.

The pair are just about to launch their own label Eastern Elements in order to release their vibe fuelled new album Aquarian Dreams, a varied ride through the multitude of jungalist styles they have both worked through over their many years in the game. Expect a slew of unreleased tunes culled for their upcoming tome alongside classic sounding old school vibes, soulful sections, dutty ragga leaning riddims, splashes of pure jungalism, nostalgic two-step and even a smattering of darkness thrown in for good measure. In short it’s a history lesson and homage to one of the UK greatest ever genres by two masters who paid their dues a long time ago. Play this one loud!

Where has the time gone? It seems like only yesterday we were prepping our inaugural podcast from Ed Banger founder Busy P for your listening delights and here we are today at edition number 500! (Insert cheering and whole load of whooping!)

We’ve had some great guests since launching the series back in 2009 but today we’ve got a mix that is up there with the very best of them with a special 4 hour mix, that's a massive 64 tracks from one of the founding members of Drum & Bass, a pioneering DJ and 'Mercury Prize' winning producer... Mr Roni Size.  \

2015 was a huge year for Roni Size and Reprazent, with headline slots at some of the biggest festival across the UK and Europe, it proved there is still the desire to see the original live band in Drum and Bass doing what they do best. 2016 saw original junglists, Roni Size and DJ Krust relaunched their seminal label, Full Cycle Records earlier this year.  Full Cycle Records was born in 1994 (previously known as Roni and Krust’s Full Circle Records), and quickly became one of the most important jungle – and then drum & bass – labels of the early ‘90’s. The Bristol-based label issued now classic releases from the likes of Size, Krust, Die, Suv, D Product, Flynn & Flora, and beyond, before closing in 2009.

For the rest of the summer you can catch Roni Size and DJ Krust at South West Four on August Bank Holiday Weekend, but in the mean time he's delivered our 500th podcast... so enjoy!
