Every once in a while a small label you have no previous experience with comes along and blows you away with a release. More of a rarity however is when said independent imprint continues to blow you away on a regular basis with their following releases.  For me, Varoslav’s excellent Rue De Plaisance imprint is such an example.

Since it was it was incepted in 2011 with the release of  David K’s off kilter jazz infused ‘Somewhere In My Head’ it was clear the Czech born Parisian’s label was one that arrived to stay. A steady stream of left of centre grooves have followed with release "everything from experimental house to funked-up techno," finding its way onto vinyl since the labels inauguration. With a variety of genres on display one constant runs throughout each and every release pressed in the French capital: quality.

Thus when we had the chance to secure an exclusive vinyl only mix from label boss Varoslav himself naturally we jumped at the chance. With a busy summer ahead that sees the label touch down in Barcelona for a special exhibition during Sonar and a new summer residency at Paris institution Rex Club about to begin the future is looking brighter than ever for Varoslav and his rapidly emerging imprint. Now check out this brilliant set packed to the rafters with summery house vibes!

Since the middle of 2014 me and my friend Fanta Clauss are running this nice little monthly wednesday party called 'Something Else' at a cosy bar/club called Cräck Bellmer. What started as a test-run for a vinyl-only-night without the typical berlin-standard four-to-the-floor-music, developed to a playground for inviting friends to play B-Sides, outernational music and obsure rarities. Even though this mix can't reflect the whole spectrum of music we're presenting at 'Something Else' it's a nice example for those special wednesdays, which already began to develop some serious impact on my record collection. I hope you will you have some fun listening to this musical journey through counties like Ethopia, Chile, Brazil and Eastern Germany.
