It’s Monday. We knew this day would come. Whether you spent your weekend having a couple of drinks at your local or being dragged out on a disatrous date following a very brief chat with a stranger on Tinder before drunk calling that girl you met at 4am you at a festival last summer to tell them you love them (we may be giving away too much information here) AM back at your desk for another week was never going to be an easy gig. Help is at hand however, as fast rising Londoner Vanilla Ace steps up to deliver this weeks exclusive podcast.

Having picked up serious play from some of the scenes biggest names Vanilla Ace has been on our radar as one to watch for a while now and looks set to blow in the coming months with a slew of high quality releases slated to arrive on some of our favourite labels. Fans that we are of his studio exploits, it’s not just us abilities within the production suite that have led to us giving him such fervent support but also a dexterity on the decks that has been moving dance floors the world over. So with his new collaborative 3 track ‘Better Way’ EP with Rafael Cerato out now on Italian house and techno label Go Deeva Records we thought the time was right to welcome him into the fold as our latest contributor to deliver a mix for us here at DT? The Drifter, otherwise known as Mark Flynn, is an Irish DJ, producer, and singer raised in a countryside town near Dublin. Growing up, Flynn would dabble in choirs and rock bands alongside close friend Mano Le Tough, before going to university and being exposed to dance music. Today The Drifter is a fond purveyor of the melodic and mesmerising breed of electronic music, and is now based in the thriving city of Berlin where he runs the Maeve label alongside co-founders Mano Le Tough and Baikal – a label which despite being in its infancy has already hosted names such as Matthew Dekay, Dixon and Ripperton.

As well as Maeve, his own productions have appeared on imprints such as Tigers On A Leash, Lossless, and Permanent Vacation, and his voice has even been lent to the likes of Jacob Korn, Slow Hands, Erdbeerschnitzel, Good Guy Mikesh & Filburt, and Baikal. Now, as the summer gets into full swing The Drifter’s momentum shows no symptoms of faltering, with a string of remixes set to arrive over the next few months whilst his touring schedule sees him live up to him musical moniker, touching down in America, Germany and Brazil in the near future.

As astute in the DJ booth as the studio, it's with a great deal of excitement that we welcome the Drifter to our podcast series as he shifts through the gears to deliver a fresh set of cuts for you to wrap your ears around.

Where has the time gone? It seems like only yesterday we were prepping our inaugural podcast from Ed Banger founder Busy P for your listening delights and here we are today at edition number 450.

We’ve had some great guests since launching the series back in 2008 but today we’ve got a mix that is up there with the very best of them with special set from Data Transmission favourites Steve Mac and Robert Chetcuti, who have resumed their partnership as Rhythm Masters for the first time in a decade.

Returning to the fold as a duo for their own Dis-Funktional Recordings imprint, expectations as to what we could expect from the pairings triumphant reunion were significantly raised upon the unveiling of their latest cut 20 Year Cycle, which seriously impressed us here at Data Transmission.

Super talented DJs as well as producers, the years Rhythm Masters have spent in the game so far have seen them forge a fierce reputation both behind the decks and in the studio with his CV boasting a wealth of legendary productions, collaborations and remixes. It’s their abilities in the DJ booth we’re celebrating today though as after hearing them demolish dance floors all around the globe, we thought it was high time we nabbed their considerable talents for ourselves here at DT!

Jam packed with previously unheard material , it’s a mix that has put smiles on the faces of everyone who has heard it so far. Roll on podcast 4,500!

Our final release of the year is a bumping showcase of the rising talent that is Mirco Costa. Despite only having been releasing music a little over a year, the club-forward producer already has an impressive catalog of music on top flight labels & A-list DJ support. These two tracks are some of his finest work yet, with intricate yet effortless drum programming & rolling basslines underneath moody, dubby vocals. It's not bad meaning bad, but bad meaning good.

Now sunburn is something we normally try to avoid but in Kevin Chapman’s case we’re willing to make an exception as the Los Angeles based DJ and producer continues to plot his route to superstardom. 

Having first come to our attention via his fresh takes on classic records  such as Marvin Gaye's ‘Sexual Healing’, we’ve had our ears bent repeatedly by our overly suntanned friends on the West Coast about SNBRN, with his exploits on the decks and in the studio quickly winning an army of fans and marking him out as one of electronic music’s hottest properties. 

Offering up a varied take on house that draws influence from across the spectrum of electronic music, it’s easy to see why his diverse, upbeat style has resonated with audiences Stateside and just why a number of taste making outlets are falling over themselves to tip him for future world domination.

Being the go getters that we are, we thought we'd strike why the iron's hot and invite Mr. Chapman to serve up a set of selections for our official podcast series.  So without further ado, may we present to you: SNBRN.

As you may have guessed by our extensive coverage over the past few years, we're quite the fans of multi-monikered electronica maestro Dylan Richards here at Data Transmission. Releasing music under a slew of different aliases that include King Cannibal for Ninja Tune and Zilla whilst on Warp, the man also known as House Of Black Lanterns never fails to impress.

Thus you can imagine our excitement at news that Richards had a new album ready for release, earlier in the month without fuss or fanfare as a self released effort titled 'You Were Telling Me Of Mountains'.

Consisting of two continuous parts containing eleven movements in total, the album was written between summer 2013 and summer 2015, and draws both musically and thematically from the artist’s frustrations of being a recording artist today.

Having first described House of Black Lanterns as about “about suspense, space and depth” and more restrained than anything he had worked on before with a “threat of violence” buried deep within his "music’s texture rather than worn outwardly on it’s sleeve," what avenue he’d lead us down for his edition of the DT podcast was anybody’s guess. Whilst we won’t spoil the surprise (it’s up to you whether or not you want to have a gander at the tracklist) we will tell you it has certainly lived up to our lofty expectations.
