His new album combines electronic sounds with traditional Venezuelan instruments. The album consists of processed orchestral ensembles, that creates an enveloping ambient atmosphere. Throughout intensifies, floats, and intertwines.

The new soft-spoken, hard-rocking group from Baltimore debuted their full length live show at the Wolf + Lamb Marcy Hotel this March. Following in the footsteps of greats like Nicolas Jaar and PillowTalk, they were the first invited guest in over 2 years to perform at the legendary Brooklyn proving grounds.

Life on Planets is a duo that met in the studio lofts of their east coast hometown, whereby a collaboration fusing indie artrock and electronic music began to take shape. It was a pairing of two dramatically different personas, merging as one for a serendipitous, romantic sound that's now been signed to the Double Standard label. Life on Planets has also released music through Better on Foot, where the debut single 'Apollo' made waves in early 2014. The touring act features live vocals and guitar, backed by a dj/producer, dawning a long-awaited return to authentic songwriting in dance music.

And now for something completely different. Following on from the supercharged and slightly madcap techno stylings of last weeks stellar Donald Trump featuring podcast from the inimitable Remute we have now decided to paddle across the Channel to secure the talents of Nicolas Godin to deliver this weeks exclusive mix. Best known as one half of iconic French electronic outfit Air, we’ve been fans of Nicolas since, well forever and with his hotly anticipated debut album Contrepoint arriving this week via Because Music we thought there’d be no better time than now to welcome the Gallic maestro into the Data Transmission fold.

Inspired by the late Canadian pianist Glenn Gould's reinterpretation of Bach's most celebrated works, Contrepoint sees Godin similarly reshape the legendary composer's music with each track using a Bach piece as as its source, before jumping off to all manner of new places.

 "A musician friend had told me about the two documentaries Bruno Monsaingeon had made about Gould, Hereafter and The Alchemist." the producer explains before adding: "I watched Gould, who is one of the greatest musicians of all time, playing the most beautiful music of all time, Bach. I think the extremely personal way that Gould interpreted Bach goes against all the normal rules of performance, which for me created a new art form. I was immediately attracted to this mysterious and inaccessible universe, which I wanted to explore when I got home to Paris.”

Working in tandem with co-songwriter, arranger, keyboardist and Bach specialist Vincent Taurelle  and a starry international cast of guests, such as French vocalist Gordon Tracks, Brazilian singer Marcelo Camelo, Italian author Alessandro Barrico, New Zealand guitarist Connan Mockasin and the choir from Macedonia’s F.A.M.E.'S. Project, Godin ended up with eight varied and individual pieces.  “Sometimes only thirty seconds of Bach’s original music was left behind." he recalls "But I want people to listen to Contrepoint without noticing that it’s Bach as it’s as much a tribute to all the great composers that have inspired me. Making a record about Bach leads to all composers who have listened to Bach."

We definitely wanted to cover as much global territory as possible; so it was the globe and then home. We wanted to show the treasures from our hometown, or people from our hometown that the rest of the world probably doesn’t know. That’s what makes Khruangbin Khruangbin. The stubbornness about being so hometown-centric but what makes Houston is this constant international influence. That’s that gulf stream, bringing it right into Houston. Hot on the heels of ‘Mordechai’, the critically acclaimed third album from US psych-rockers Khruangbin, the Texas trio are set to become the latest act to present their own LateNightTales in the popular, long-running musician-curated album series.

Having first come to prominence in 2013 when producer and DJ Bonobo included Khruangbin’s ‘A Calf Born in Winter’ in his own collection of songs for the series, the little known Houston trio had yet to release an album, but have since gone on to become international superstars forming their own exotic, individual sound. “The LateNightTales series is such a special thing to be a part of because we wouldn’t have made it if it wasn’t for Bonobo’s LateNightTales, because that’s how we got into the LNT family – and got a break.”

With a mind-blowing selection of tracks that cross borders and cultures, Khruangbin’s deep love of global grooves – from Asian pop to Nigerian reggae – Japanese mellow groove to Latina flavas – are steeped in eclecticism; Nazia Hassan’s Hindi-disco ‘Khushi’, produced by British-Indian legend Biddu, South Korean rock band Sanullim who contribute ‘Don’t Go’, a pair of African bangers from Nigerian Maxwell Udoh and Roha Band, from Ethiopia; a diversion to Belarus for Песняры and thence to Madrid for the strident vocal performance of Paloma San Basilio with ‘Contigo’ before hightailing back to Texas.

Elsewhere, the Lone Star state reps proudly, with David Marez and Kelly Doyle plus, in the LateNightTales tradition, the band deliver an exclusive, horizontally brilliant version of Kool & The Gang’s ‘Summer Madness’, while the mix concludes with a spoken word piece by Tierney Malone, accompanied by fellow Houstonian Geoffrey Muller’s atmospheric banjo rendering of Erik Satie’s ‘Gnossienne’.
