‘West Country gent’ Jabru has been kicking up a small storm since his dazzling sun-drenched banger ‘Church’ appeared on Will Saul’s edition of the famed DJ Kicks series last year. The rich, bumping House number that features South London crooner Joel Culpepper is due to see a repackaged release by DJ Kicks on 29 June. It includes a dark and dirty remix of the original by Garage pioneer Zed Bias, alongside a Will Saul and Komon collaboration – ‘Two For One’.

Earlier this month Jabru dropped ‘Little Fire Dubs’ via London’s Losing Suki imprint, a collection of Dub imbued dance floor rollers that also pull elements from House, Techno and UK Garage. It’s considerably more brooding than the sounds on ‘Church’, with Jabru  implementing heaps of tape delay, grainy reverb and lo-fi fuzz. Where the previously mentioned track is best suited for rooftop sunsets, this EP fits a dark, sweaty underground club at 4am. It’s an impressive collection of primal late night sounds and is testament to why he’s received continued support from Huxley, Futureboogie and Joker as well as being called upon to DJ by Hyperdub, Solid Steel and Rinse FM.

Following the EP’s release on May 11 and ahead of the DJ Kicks record, we have Jabru on Hyp mix duty this week for a lesson in the left-leaning club sounds he’s been spinning in recent sets. A number of Jabru’s own tracks make an appearance alongside jarringly robotic Techno cuts from human-canine duo Rex The Dog and classic 90s House in the form of ‘The Way’ by British legends Global Communication. Jabru painlessly connects the old and new of UK club culture, where a recent remix of Maribou State by Aus Music affiliate Tom Demac can exist seamlessly alongside early heavyweight Jungle from pioneer Studio Pressure.

UK artist Denney arrives on Radio Slave’s REK’D for the first time with ‘Promises’, landing 3rd October 2025. Following up his 2023 debut ‘Catch The Heat’ single on flagship label Rekids, ‘Promises’ features the voice of platinum-selling singer-songwriter Penny F, and is a low-slung House groover with a subtle nod to old-school, golden-age Progressive sounds. Courtesy of raw, rolling square bass, and the deep emotion evoked by Penny’s heartfelt vocals - ‘Promises’ is a late-night track to lose yourself to on dark, strobe-lit dancefloors.

"I have been working with Penny for a while on a variety of diﬀerent projects and knew as soon as I made the track her vocals would be perfect....which they are! I wanted to make a timeless House record, which I think we have managed to do nicely!" - Denney

With ‘Promises’, Denney follows up his 2023 ‘Catch The Heat’ single on Rekids, which featured a vocal from Charlotte Riby and remixes by Nic Fanciulli and Franky & Sandrino. The North England-born DJ and producer broke through with his Hot Creations hit ‘Ultraviolet’ and has since released music on labels such as Crosstown Rebels and Knee Deep In Sound, while playing at venues including fabric, DC10, and BPM Festival.

For his debut on REK’D, he teams up with Penny F, who has co-written chart-topping tracks with Lana Del Rey and collaborated with artists like William Orbit, Yousef, Ali Love, and more, with releases spanning Ministry of Sound, Toolroom, Armada, and Spinnin’ Records.

Dust off your scuba gear and get out your breathing apparatus because this week we're going deep as Djebali steps up to helm the DT podcast. Having grown up in the vibrant Parisian scene of the early noughties, it wasn’t long before he cut his teeth at some of the finest hangouts the City Of Lights has to offer, quickly developing a name for himself as one of the town’s best DJs having made numerous appearances at Rex Club and serving as resident for Freak n’Chic Batofar parties. Before long word of his talent had spread and he found himself being invited to play some of the world hottest nightspots as the likes of DC-10, Space and Womb al came calling. 

A super talented producer as well as DJ, the years Djebali has spent in the game so far have seen him forge a fierce reputation for his work in the studio as much as his skill behind the decks, with his  production CV boasting a wealth of esteemed releases. It’s his abilities in the DJ booth we’re celebrating today though as after hearing him demolish dance floors all around the globe we thought it was high time we nabbed his considerable talents for ourselves here at Data Transmission. So turn this up and keep those impending winter blues at bay with a hour long set of selections fresh from the White Isle.

Warning: ingredients include essence of DC-10, extract of Ibiza and unfiltered sunshine. Keep out of reach of boring people and report to your local travel nightclub if ingested. Side effects may include dancing.
