Ben Rau revives his INKAL label after a two-year hiatus, with a brace of new tracks on the ‘French Plan’ single.  Conceived as a label solely for his own productions and running parallel to his META imprint, (home to house aficionados Ray Mono, Darius Syrossian, The Checkup and many more), Rau cues up two irresistible house tracks for a summer that promises to be like no other.

‘French Plan’ certainly doffs its cap to the filtered ‘French touch’ sound that cemented itself into the house music fabric over the last couple of decades, and Rau keeps this basic technique sounding thoroughly modern and effective.  Looping piano and tight guitar licks keep rolling over a crisp rhythm, female vox bringing the ‘call to arms’ that seals this uplifting cut perfectly.

Rau teases some classic deep house tropes on accompanying track ‘Holding On’, as a lively bassline and some acidic tones gambol over an industrious four to the floor beat, sweeping strings and a rousing vocal maintaining the good time energies stamped all over this one.

A welcome return for the INKAL label and for Ben Rau’s resolute sounds.

Three stellar remixes of Aussie hotshot Jerk Boy's recent collaboration with Chicago house legend Mike Dunn to cover a range of tastes, needs and urges. Watergate resident Kristin Velvet channels Mike Dunn's tracky, heads-down roots with her stripped-back version, where old skool drum machine pressure meets throbbing bass and Dunn's moody vocals are left plenty of space to breathe. Ben Gomori channels early MJ Cole productions on his Keep It 4x4 Remix, with clipped, heavily swinging drums laced with boomy sub bass, quivvering synth chords and cute clavichord motifs. Dutch master T.U.R.F. continue their fine run of form on their joyous disco house re-rub, cramming oodles of funk and soul into their cut-up groove.

For those that caught our recent podcast with them here will know we are big fans. Eclectic, creative, inquiring, they own a unique style which spreads adrenalin and passion and at the same time makes people dream.

Italian duo Neverdogs launch their new label Bamboleo Records with their own four-track 'Underground Activity' EP packed with their signature driving dancefloor style. Mixmag has the pleasure of revealing the EP's title track that showcases a gripping house motif with warm chords, kinetic drums and deep rolling bass line.
