Welcome to DefBear’s House.  My name’s Geoff Mair and I love spinning and sharing House music with my friends.  

My DJ name, DefBear, rhymes with my real name, and stems from my personal musical journey.  The Bear part of DefBear represents my twenties spent as a sort of hippy going to shows like the Grateful Dead and the Allman Brothers.  Bear comes from the Grateful Dead's dancing bears and also represents my home in beautiful British Columbia.  My thirties and forties were mostly about listening and going to HipHop shows with a smattering of House music too.  The Def part of DefBear comes from DefJam Records and Mos Def and means “definitive” in HipHop vernacular.  

Now I listen to and spin almost exclusively House music.  More specifically, the really bumpy, grindy kind of House that makes you wanna get on up on the dance floor.  Hope to see you there.
