Sydney’s own Elroy is turning up the thermostat with his debut on Lee Foss’ iconic Repopulate Mars. The Elroy Hot EP is a three-track dancefloor weapon, and we’ve got the title cut ‘Hot’ on lock.

Elroy’s been making waves in the Aussie scene with his stripped-back, glitch-heavy tech house sound, winning support from big-hitters like Marco Carola, Patrick Topping, and Jamie Jones. From sweaty warehouse sessions in Sydney to high-energy sets at UNVRSE for Catch & Release, the guy knows how to work a room.

‘Hot’ is pure after-hours mischief, driven by a chunky low end, tight percussion, and vocal chops that land right in the sweet spot. It’s got that late-night bounce built for basements and rooftop sunrises alike. The rest of the Elroy Hot EP keeps the pressure high with ‘Shakin’ delivering warped synth lines and slick drum work, while ‘Feel The Bass’ dips into UKG-inspired grooves that tunnel deep into the mix.

In my mind, the original Careless Whisper might be one of the most catchy and influential songs of the 80s. At the beginning of last fall I decided to cover it and put my own creative spin on the tune. After the unfortunate passing of the original artist, George Michael, I was hesitant to continue my plans to release the cover, but I feel like my passionate and uplifting twist of the song pays an honorable tribute to Michael's work.
